CONFUSED !!!! Quite some time ago, I asked my GP if I could exchange my standart BP medication to CIALIS. (For the additional benefit). He said no, because cialis would not help my specific BP problem. Similar posts here in the past seem to have supported this view.

 
The question is simple: Why can CIALIS not replace "standart BP medication"?

It has been shown that all PDE‐5 inhibitors are safe in treated hypertensive patients. 2

The hypotensive effect of PDE‐5 inhibitors should be exploit to treat resistant hypertension, particularly in those with ED. Since tadalafil has the longest duration of action it will probably be the best PDE‐5 inhibitor to use for lowering blood pressure. Low dose tadalafil (5 mg daily) can improve blood pressure control and erectile function. The fact that PDE‐5 inhibitors can lower blood pressure and improve erectile function suggests that lowering blood pressure by itself does not cause ED and it is probably related to the antihypertensive medications.

The safety profile of tadalafil presented by Kloner in this issue may justify wider use of the drug in hypertensive patients. Wide use of tadalafil in hypertensive patients may improve erectile function and blood pressure control leading to a decrease in CV events. Further long term studies should be done to prove this concept.

So, I take 5mg of the Thai generic Cialis daily for BHP. 

 

I also take telmisartan (20 milligrams), amlodipine (2.5 milligrams), and chlorthalidone (12.5 milligrams) daily.  These are 1/2 the amounts of the lowest dose pill I can get here in Thailand so have to pill cut.  I was entering into the high BP range without these medicines.  Have been taking for over 7 years now after reading the medical results for developing an inexpensive triple BP pill with 600 participants in the study.  The results were pretty definite on the BP improvement without any noticeable side effects and have been repeated in several other studies since.  Costs me about $.45/day, get from my pharmacy without Dr's note.

 

As long as I take daily, I am zero'd in on what is considered normal BP these days.

 

Note: Since I started this, a lot more medical journals have reported positively on this and a commercial triple pill was eventually released with two of the 3 ingredients I am using, the third ingredient is functionally the same thing as I'm using but I think allows to patent as what I'm using has been off-patent for some time. The latest I found is Widaplik (first to get FDA approval) which is launching later this year in the US.  No price yet, but the ingredients are pretty cheap.
