LINE Thailand Shocks Users by Cutting Unsend Time to 1 Hour

Hold on to your phones! LINE, one of Thailand's top messaging apps, is causing a stir by reducing its message cancellation time from 24 hours to just one hour. The game-changing update rolls out from late October, as announced on LINE Thailand's official Facebook page.

Previously, LINE's "Unsend" feature gave users a generous 24-hour window to erase regrettable messages. But soon, you’ll have only 60 minutes to save face. This function, cherished by overthinkers and those prone to texting slips, lets users remove messages from both sender and receiver histories, with just a simple “You unsent a message” notice left behind.

From October onwards, users will have to act quickly to undo their digital faux pas. The tightened timeframe is based on "user behaviour patterns," aiming to enhance the user experience; technical specifics remain under wraps. Reports from KhaoSod and Thairath suggest a gradual rollout of this update.

The change aligns with the rising focus on digital responsibility and message clarity in communication platforms worldwide.

In other developments, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) recently tested its Cell Broadcast alert system across Thailand. The initiative aims to improve disaster preparedness and ensure immediate reach to the public during emergencies.
