Poomtarm Wechayachai has submitted a request to His Majesty the King to dissolve the Thai Parliament. This bold move comes as the current Prime Minister responds to the People’s Party's refusal to join the government. An official announcement is anticipated as the nation's political situation faces unprecedented turmoil.

This morning at 09:00, Sorayut Thiangthong, Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Party, revealed the stunning news. During a parliamentary session, the People's Party declared their support for Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, as Thailand's Prime Minister. However, their decision against joining the coalition left Pheu Thai seeing no path forward.

Sorayut confirmed that the legislative branch is ready to nominate Pheu Thai’s candidate, Chaikasem Nitisiri, for Prime Minister once the House Speaker sets the agenda. Yet, following the dissolution request, clarity on the selection timeline is missing. With only 130 seats, the government remains a minority, bereft of stability and confidence.

Sorayut stressed the enormity of the situation, indicating that Poomtarm has completed all necessary procedures to request the King to dissolve Parliament. He mentioned that Poomtarm, acting as Prime Minister, has formally submitted the request, amid widespread concerns about the viability of continuing with a minority government, reported Khaosod Online.

Despite differing legal opinions within the Pheu Thai Party, Sorayut conveyed their confidence in this decision. While the party's legal team have their viewpoints, Poomtarm has already acted, marking the end of this parliamentary session.

The political scene is now in chaos, awaiting further clarification and potential direction for Thailand's future. The collapse of negotiations and failure to form a viable government propel the nation into uncertainty. An imminent announcement from Poomtarm is expected to shed light on the path forward and offer clarity amidst the political upheaval.
