Pattaya police were forced to intervene late night on 4 September, after a man was seen in the middle of the road, on Jomtien Beach attempting to pick fights with locals and tourists.

According to witnesses, the man, dressed only in shorts, appeared to be intoxicated and was shouting provocations at passers-by before waving his fists in the air. Several visitors reported that he was daring strangers to fight him and had earlier tried to land punches on unsuspecting holidaymakers.

Tourists quickly alerted nearby officers, who moved in to prevent the situation from escalating further. The man, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, resisted briefly before being giving up and was escorted to a waiting patrol vehicle.

Police later confirmed that he was taken to the station and held overnight in a cell. Officials dryly described his accommodation as a “special programme — free room with iron bars,.”

Authorities said no-one were injured during the incident, though several reported feeling threatened by the man’s aggressive behaviour. Police have pledged to maintain a strong presence in the area to ensure the safety of visitors.

The man is expected to be released after sobering up but could face charges if further complaints are lodged.

Why must you go back to this same lame high school quote? You know you haven't been in a fight since you picked on the high school nerds, so thinking it will work with adults isn't going to fly. You have no idea what would happen if he hit you, or that you might not be able to hit anyone since high school, as many adults have a lot more fighting skills when they're past 18. There are many expats out there that have trained for decades, that you would never be able to hit, and that might really cause you some damage when they hit you, so using that over and over looks pretty silly. Bragging to people you don't know doesn't work, and you might find out the hard way when you try that thinking against someone who actually knows how to fight. High school is a long time over Malcolm.

Thai immigration will hassle some harmless 70+ year old on his visa, but has no problem letting a nasty  specimen like this remain in Thailand.

Do you find the soda water over carbonated? My dentist advised me to cut my intake of soda water because it is acidic and damages the tooth enamel.

Establishments will serve as much alcohol as a person can drink. it's all about making a profit for them.
