I went to one of their Anonymous Testing Centers one time.

Passport please.

I don't have my passport with me, it's an 'Anonymous Test'

Um, how about NO? Gays are significantly more likely to have hiv and aids. I don't care how badly homos want to donate blood, it isn't safe.

My biological blood type is O positive but I identify as O negative.

  • No Blood Donations from Gay Men: Thailand's Ongoing LGBT+ Fight   And rightly so. They should add people who got covid or the covid shots.   But why this complaining in the OP ?

That differed from my experience over a decade ago with the Thai Red Cross at their location in Bangkok near Rachadamri. It was completely anonymous, no passport or identification required, and free. At that time it still took several days to get the results if I recall correctly. It was walk-in, without the need for an appointment. I believe that results now are available within minutes.

Same center, and around the same time.

Obviously a different desk clerk. 🙄

Blood donations, they go through vigorous testing/screening before being given to  another ?

There have been reliable blood tests for donated blood from donations since 1985, 40 years now. Prior to that time there were some few who were infected by blood transfusion. Those with haemophilia were especially vulnerable owing to their frequent need for blood and clotting factors.

Many countries did restrict donation from homosexuals completely. Some, revised the ruling to allow donations from homosexuals after 20 years of abstenence, which is kind of bizaare.

Globally, most countries have removed all restrictions on homosexuals, the test conducted on all donations verifies that donated blood from all sources is as safe from heterosexual as from homosexuals.

I'm a bit miffed I can donate, and couldn't since 60+ yrs old.   As I was a regular back in USA.  That's another silly rule, unless I'm missing something.

same ...    got rejected trying 2x ..    "if I had donated in Thailand @ 55 they would have accepted me as a donor .    but otherwise 60 and your out

I even came equipped with my Red Cross and  NY Blood Center cards ....  guess the need for blood isn't that urgent.

Sadly I can't donate blood as I hate needles

It hurts me , if I need a blood test which I get every 2 months, they usually give me a teddy bear and I'm not joking about that

Sadly I had one Filipino blood taker in Sydney Australia laugh at me when I hugged the Teddy, he wasn't employed there next time I went ,I wrote a complaint letter to the doctor

I once wanted to donate but they told me they do not take foreigner blood due to the mad cow disease (back at that time I was vegetarian, but they still did not want it...)... they did not even perform any test... it was in 2018 in The Nation, Bangna Trad...

So a mad hypochondriac is running around Sydney getting nice Filipino nurses fired for simply doing their job. Good one. Be proud of yourself. Racism is rough.

You can have all the gay blood you want dude, at least make it optional for those of us who don't want it, same as covid blood.

So, you're on your deathbed needing an urgent blood transfusion or you'll die and the only blood available is fully tested blood from a gay person. You'd refuse it and die?

No ,I would have the transfusion but be scared to death about contracting aids or turning gay myself.

you sound like a lunatic. getting someone fired because they laughed at a teddy bear? you also sound incredibly immature if you still need a stuffed animal to comfort you at your age.

Presumably they're screening accounts for this, regardless of sexual orientation.

As I said. Screening is irrelevant if it's during the window period as even if you keep the blood it won't show positive on a test because the antibody process will stop, and therefore there's nothing to test, even if the blood contains HIV.

I think in countries that aren't banning gay donors, it's based on answers to questions about sexual activity, etc.

A gay person who has been celibate for ten years is a better risk than a slutty straight person.

For sure. This question used to be specifically whether you have had same sex sexual activity in the past 3 months. Not whether you are actually gay.
