DIT expedites the release of fruit into domestic and foreign markets

The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) expedites the release of fruit into domestic and foreign markets, informing that all agricultural products will be sold simultaneously on August 16th.

DIT Director-General Siripol Yodmuangcharoen (ศิริพล ยอดเมืองเจริญ) said that the amount of agricultural products this year is much more than previous years, especially for longkong with over 80,000 tons. In a bid to assist farmers, the DIT in collaboration with the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC), Narathiwat (นราธิวาส), Yala (ยะลา), and Pattani (ปัตตานี) Province will bring all agricultural products to the market on August 16th.

In the meantime, people have been requested to reduce the consumption of fruits imported from foreign countries and consume domestic fruits instead.

In addition, longkongs will be exported to other countries, including China and Asean member countries.

The DIT also asks for cooperation from canned fruit manufacturers to increase its productivity.

Internal Trade to help distribute fruits from Southern-most provinces

The Department of Internal Trade will assist in distributing fruits to both domestic and foreign markets to resolve the problem of excessive fruits.

Director-General of Internal Trade Siripol Yodmuangcharoen (ศิริพล ยอดเมืองเจริญ) discloses that the excessive fruits this year include more than 80,000 tonnes of longkong. The department has therefore cooperated with the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center and the provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani in arranging fairs to sell the fruits on August 16th. In addition, offices of commerce of the three provinces will help distribute the produce which can prevent further drops in the prices, he says.

Mr Siripol encourages people to eat less imported fruits and more local fruits. As for fairs to sell the fruits in Bangkok, they will take place in front of offices of various government organizations and the Government Savings Bank. On August 16th, “Blue Flag” fairs to sell longkong are scheduled to take place at 20 locations in Bangkok.

The department has also distributed the fruits to foreign countries, including China, and other countries in ASEAN.

MOAC encourages people to eat more longan

Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC), Thira Sutabot (ธีระ สูตะบุตร), discloses that the ministry has campaigned for people to eat more longan to resolve the problem of drops in the fruit prices.

Mr Thira says the ministry increased the target of longen produce sold in the country from 100,000 tonnes to 150,000 tonnes a year. As for the target of longan for export, it was raised from 120,000 tonnes to 150,000 tonnes a year. The ministry will also open new markets to sell longan in countries including those in the Middle East, China, and India.

The minister says further that the total area of longan orchards in the country is not considered as too large and speculates that this year’s excessive longan produce is due to lower demands in both domestic and foreign markets.

psst ...............sex sells .

If they put the same people in charge as 3 and 4 years ago, in the purchase and export, they could take care of the surplus very quickly. If memory serves me correctly some 50000 tons of dried lamyai came up missing, or moved to a inactive post as no one has found the farmers who sold, the buyers, the middlemen, or the lamyai and it appears the statue of limitations may be expireing as far as looking for any of the aforementioned.
