In a monumental development, Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first step of a US-mediated peace initiative for Gaza, as announced by US President Donald Trump. This pivotal agreement promises the return of hostages and a strategic Israeli troop withdrawal. Trump hailed it as a momentous achievement for all involved parties, including Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who played critical roles in brokering the deal.

The backdrop to this announcement comes on the heels of extensive negotiations in Egypt. The discussions aimed to facilitate peace following the conflict initiated by Hamas's attack on Israel two years ago, which resulted in significant loss of life and hostages. This conflict saw a retaliatory campaign by Israel leading to the deaths of over 65,000 Palestinians according to Gazan health authorities, and left the region in turmoil.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Majed Al Ansari confirmed the accord, stating an agreement had been crafted covering cessation provisions, hostages' release, and aid entry. Specific details remain to be unveiled, marking a critical juncture in the protracted conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed this as a "great day for Israel" and announced imminent plans to endorse the agreement officially.

Looking ahead, the focus shifts to implementing the ceasefire provisions and ensuring the safe return of hostages. The world awaits further announcements detailing the operational aspects of this unprecedented accord, with hopes pinned on sustained peace and stability in the region.

Key Takeaways:

  • Israel and Hamas agreed on the initial phase of a US-led peace plan.
  • The deal includes a ceasefire, hostages' release, and troop withdrawal.
  • Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey were instrumental in brokering the agreement.

Let's hope the remaining hostages and hostages bodies are released and true peace can be reached. I'm sure somehow the sufferers will somehow find an anti-Trump spin to this which would be a true indicator of a mental health issue. As for "This conflict saw a retaliatory campaign by Israel leading to the deaths of over 65,000 Palestinians according to Gazan health authorities, and left the region in turmoil." this is because of Hamas actions on Oct 7, the human sheild tactic used by Hamas, Hamas fighters killed and Hamas' refusal to hand over the hostages.

If trump gets the Nobel peace prize then you can bet within a week Israel will start bombing again.

You don't get a Nobel price by saying "I want it, I've earned it"

It's too soon currently to consider Trump has achieved any peace and renaming the Department of Defence to the Department of War, doesn't help.

America seems to be heading into civil war or a dictatorship, again, not in his favour.

Trump is central to this. This is undeniable but somehow you deny it. The ball is in Israel's and Hamas' court now. It appears the first phase has been signed off on. How this plays out we'll have to wait and see but it's seeming like ALL living hostages will be released. As for the bodies of hostages Hamas is saying they don't know where some hostage bodies are.

I'd love to believe it, but the source is unreliable.

This is across all media. As for ABC Australia this like the BBC it's a mouthpiece for the woke left.

Great job by Trump.

Unfortunately Hamas cannot be trusted.

As if anyone with half a brain would beleive a word that comes out of the animals mouth. Probaly all lies as nearly everything the grifting dog has to say.

This is good news but it's a relatively easy first step. Having hamas disarm and play no further role in terrorising the place, well that will be a monumental achievement. Good luck.

As the saying goes, devil in the details which come after phase 1. Still a step in the right direction after 2 year of senseless civilians death. Let us hope that Netanhayu and his right wing politicians will be given a resounding rejection by the electorates in next year election.

Another Peace Plan....

Another Day in the Life.....

How many Peace Plans have there been....

Since the first one?

I don’t trust either of them, as soon as the hostages and prisoners are released the conflict will start again.

Where did you get this nonsense about? Sleepy Joe simply released some funds that belonged to Iran and were illegally kept. Iran has supported Hamas since its inception. The money released is a drop in the ocean compared to money Iran generates from oil.

Fortunately, everyone that matters knows that.

Trump: I have brought peace to the Middle East!

Assistant: Sir, we are too late for the Nobel Committee to award you a Peace Prize.

Trump: Stop the negotiations immediately! I am going to play golf.

i would have said to Israel : if usa helps with gaza - then why not israel help ukraine after ...that would have been the art of the deal...and maybe win a nobel peace prize -

"Gazan health authorities", Gaza Health Ministry . Conclusion

The Biden administration enabled Iran to access $6 billion in frozen assets through a prisoner exchange deal in August 2023. It also renewed a 2018 sanctions waiver for Iraq on Nov. 7, 2024, allowing Iraq to continue to purchase energy from Iran, which provided Iran access to approximately $10 billion in Iraqi payments.

The sanctions waiver was a routine renewal that has occurred nearly two dozen times since 2018, including during the first Trump administration

Additionally, U.S. and Qatari officials agreed to restrict Iran's access to the $6 billion prisoner exchange funds following Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on Israel. In both cases, Iran's access to the funds was limited to humanitarian purchases.

Yeah, Obama and Biden both loved them some Iran.

I don’t trust Israel. They will note where the released Palestinian hostages are and kill them later. The last ceasefire didn’t last and they killed hundreds of Palestinians just before it started. Mark my words, the IDF will kill a few hundred in the next few days, the are the world’s most evil army, given orders by evil war criminals. Smotrich has already said he’ll vote against a ceasefire and Netanyahu wants ALL of Gaza’s dead or cleansed. One cannot trust these Israeli animals.

Karoline Leavitt Snaps at Being Asked About Jared Kushner’s Billions

“How did the White House decide that it is appropriate for Jared Kushner to be working on matters that involve Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, three countries that combined have given him more than $2.5 billion for his investment firm?” asked New York Times reporter Shawn McCreesh.

As Leavitt responded, her voice quickly rose. “I think it’s frankly despicable that you’re trying to suggest that it’s inappropriate for Jared Kushner, who is widely respected around the world and has great trust and relationships with these critical partners in these countries, to strike a twenty-point comprehensive detailed peace plan that no other administration would ever be able to achieve,” Leavitt declared.

The same day, Kushner was at the White House for the meetings and announcement with Netanyahu, Kushner, the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, and other backers closed a $55 billion all-cash deal to buy the video game company Electronic Arts, the company announced.
