Quezon City has reported a surge in dengue cases, prompting local authorities to alert residents. From September 10 to October 7, 2025, the Quezon City Epidemiology & Surveillance Division (QCESD) recorded 993 new cases. This represents a 30% increase over the last 14 days, averaging 40 new cases daily, with four additional deaths reported, bringing the year's total fatalities to 30.

In recent weeks, male patients accounted for 56% (488) of dengue cases, while females comprised 44% (381). Children aged 5 to 17 were the most affected group, with 381 cases, representing 59% of infections. Only 1% of the cases were severe, and barangays like Batasan Hills, Commonwealth, and Holy Spirit reported the highest numbers.

Quezon City's cumulative dengue cases have reached 8,726 from January 1 to October 7, a 91% increase compared to 2024’s figure of 4,581 during the same period. Children 10 years old and below comprise 4,235 of these cases. The local government is urging residents to visit health centers for free check-ups and dengue tests.

Experts warn that the rising trend could continue if preventive measures aren't reinforced. Community engagement and public awareness are critical, as noted in QCESD's advisories on social media. Health officials emphasize the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites to control further outbreaks.

The Quezon City LGU plans to enhance community action and monitoring to curb the spread of the virus. By increasing the availability of health services and promoting preventive strategies, authorities aim to reduce the incidence of dengue in the coming weeks.

Key Takeaways

  • Dengue cases in Quezon City surged by 30% in recent weeks.
  • There has been a 91% increase in total cases compared to last year.
  • Local authorities are urging free check-ups and dengue tests.
