Keir Starmer Criticises Ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv Fans

Whilst one was of course aware of Germany's political establishment being beholden to Israel, I was not aware the extent to which the same applied in the UK.

A pro Gaza platform is the key to improving the economy in the UK.

Its not very often i Agree with Chomper but I agree what he says about the Macabi fans. There supporters have caused trouble anywhere they play with chants like " No Schoold in Gaza there kids are all dead " and IDF chants killing palastinians. This is why we don't need fans like this at English football grounds.

British fans often sing funny football songs as well

Yeah, they're much better chanting Starmer is a w#£&er, at every match. And Sky Sports trying to filter it out is even better.

I never suggested the ‘Maccabi Tel Aviv Fans’ engaged in violent attacks were Israelis or for that matter Jewish.

It’s not a ‘dangerous’ precedent, it’s not even a precedent:

Galatasaray S.K. (Turkey) fans

What are the chances thar ‘Maccabi fans are neither Israeli nor Jewish?

You argument for the DW flawed "fact check" is laughable - most of the problems were not caused by the visitors.

As is your comparison with the Turkish fan ban in 2020. Birmingham’s Safety Advisory Group is quite different from UEFA.

Islamic preacher Asrar Rashid, who claims thousands of followers on "Utube" and "X" has gone on record saying publicly that the Israeli fans ahould be hunted down in Birmingham and shown no mercy. Presumably using the weapons which the West Midlands Police so kindly arranged to be stached in the local mosques some months ago.

I will not hold my breath waiting for the Police to take action, after all, it is not as if he posted a tweet suggesting attacking a migrant hotel is it?

Personally I think he should be returned to whatever medieval theocratic hell hole he comes from, where he can indulge in marrying his cousins, mutilating the genitals of young girls and treating women as chattels to his foul hearts content.

There’s nothing funny about mocking the victims of genocide.

I’ve made no claim that the Maccabi fans are Jewish, though if they are not that would scupper the howls of this ban being ‘antisemitic’.

The DW fact check I linked relates to misrepresentation of an attack by Maccabi Tel Aviv fans on others as an antisemitic attack on the same Maccabi Tel Aviv fans.

It appears you’ve not been able to grasp that fact.

Clearly Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, if they are indeed ‘fans’ are not the first people to be banned from football games.

Banning violent thugs from football games has a long history, there is no ‘precedent’ here, dangerous or otherwise.

The MTA fans were targeted in Amsterdam because they were Jewish .

It was nothing to do with football .

The Anti semite groups came from various locations to attack Jews .

They werent rival football fans , they gathered to attack Jews

I read they were total yobs, on par with fans like Millwall, West Ham, Ajax and any Russian or East euro team.

Soccer fans are animals. Israelis, like any other folk, have jagoffs embodied therein.

I’ve provided the fact check.

Away with you and your blatant faksehood.

Thats what they do. Hissing noises when playing Ajax or Tottenham.

I would not be in the least bit surprised to learn the most, if not all, of those presenting themselves as Maccabi Tel Aviv ‘fans’ while engaging in overtly offensive chants and violent attacks where neither Israeli nor Jewish.

Football has a long history of violent gangs and individuals who’s only interest in the sport is to have an excuse for thuggery.

You’ve listed examples, there are others.

Your one video doesn't prove anything .

It just shows that an error was made on the reporting of one video

The protestors were there to confront the Israelis and confront the Israelis they did

Sorry Nick, not my video.

Not an ‘error’ of reporting the video, misreporting that was not corrected when brought to the attention of multiple news channels.

Peaceful protest is a right, thuggery is not.

Hence the ban.

    It was corrected :

Dutch photographer Annet de Graaf filmed Maccabi supporters attacking Amsterdammers,[56][79][80] but many media outlets initially misreported that the video showed an "antisemitic" mob beating Israelis.[80][81][82] The New York Times attributed this to an error made by Reuters, who syndicated the footage.[83][84] Several media outlets issued a correction or clarification, including The Guardian,[85][86] The New York Times,[83][84] the BBC,[87] DW, and Tagesschau.[80][81][82]

They were targeted in Amsterdam

"At Amsterdam Central Station and other parts of the city centre with fewer police, smaller groups of Maccabi supporters were ambushed.[14] Halsema said the attacks included "hit-and-run" assaults by "boys on scooters".[52] Footage showed fans being beaten and chased with knives. Eyewitnesses reported attempted stabbings, individuals being thrown into a canal, and attackers beating and spitting on Israelis.[53] One man was kicked repeatedly while apparently unconscious in the street."

Claim: "Israeli soccer fans were chased and beaten in Amsterdam in what Israeli and Dutch politicians called antisemitic attacks," wrote The Wall Street Journal in a headline found here.

The German newspaper Bild also used a screenshot from the video with the caption: "The hunt for Jews has broken out again: Arab mob chases soccer fans in Amsterdam."

DW Fact check: False

The video by De Graaf actually shows supporters of the Israeli soccer club Maccabi Tel Aviv attacking locals around Amsterdam Central Station.

It, therefore, does not show pro-Palestinians chasing Israelis, as has been falsely claimed by several media outlets, but instead Israeli soccer fans attacking locals and pro-Palestinian soccer fans.

There are you best buddies in action.

"There was some planned coordination — among taxi drivers and other locals who used messaging apps to organize a show of force, with at least one chat referring to a 'Jew hunt,'" the report said.

These attacks were organized through the messaging apps Telegram, WhatsApp, and more. "Hunting Jews" is the name of one of the groups. According to the newspaper, a large number of groups were formed after the events of the night preceding the attacks, in which Maccabi Tel Aviv fans pulled down a Palestinian flag and vandalized a taxi.

Agree, most likely an accident. But logically a clever move if you don't have the funds.

It's estimated there would be around 800 travelling Maccabi fans. Nothing like the number of away fans from certain English clubs with a reputation for having violent 'firms'. We don't see those fans banned every week do we.

You're either very naive or desperate to defend the indefensible.

This decision was purely political and ideological. It's a pro-Islam local authority sticking up for their fellow Muslims in Palestine.

It's sad to see the UK slowly slipping into sectarianism.

Fact. The great majority of people killed in terrorist attacks in the UK haven't been Jewish or Muslim. People need to get their priorities right.

Perhaps we should be looking at who has been doing the killing, certainly over the last 25 years or so.

A little hint, they weren't the Jews.
