US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested a police officer in Hanover Park, a suburb of Chicago, on Thursday. The officer, Radule Bojovic, is alleged to have been in the United States illegally after overstaying a tourist visa from Montenegro that expired in 2015.

 

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Bojovic was discovered during a targeted enforcement action conducted as part of ICE’s immigration operations in Illinois.

 

The Hanover Park Police Department had earlier announced Bojovic’s graduation from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy in a Facebook post, noting that he commenced an intensive 15-week field training period to serve the community. Efforts to reach the local police department and Bojovic for comments have been made by CNN.

 

Tricia McLaughlin, DHS Assistant Secretary, expressed concern over the situation, emphasising the illegality of Bojovic’s possession of a firearm as an alien. She questioned the practice of allowing individuals unlawfully residing in the country to hold official law enforcement positions.

 

This arrest follows a similar incident in September, where ICE took into custody the superintendent of Iowa’s largest school district for alleged illegal residency, who was later charged with firearm-related offences.

Stay on subject. How does a person qualify for any testing or applications with a 10 year overstay on a tourist visa. Seems pretty cut and dry. Unlike the off topic situation you spoke about.

I notice the photo in the OP cropped out where his holster would be, much like the MSM did to that guy a few weeks ago who they claimed didn't carry a gun in his capacity.  Sadly for them the UK press wasn't in on the narrative, and they didn't crop the guy's gun.

Guess one can understand why Trump is enforcing the rules. If even the USA police officers are now without proper residency permits, it was about time somebody tackled the issue.
