My very recent experience.

I did it all by courrier

Sent a cover letter requesting a letter for immigration stating my name, passport number, date of issue, stating I am British, stating my adress in Thailand and my pension/income

- Copy of passport data/foto page and current retirement extension stamp

- Copy of online registration with Embassy

- Copy of last year's letter

- Copies of salary slips, income tax return, bank book

- Orignal of employment letter stating salary

- 2.448 baht cash to cover the cost of the letter

- Self adressed enveloppe & pre-paid courrier enveloppe

Day 1 send by courrier

Day 2 arrived at Embassy

Day 3 Embassy makes the letter

Day 4 Embassy gives to courrier

Day 5 received letter with all documents in return except passport copy and cover letter

On Day 1 I also sent an e-mail to inform of the arrivalof the request by courrier

Embassy replied on Day 2 that they will issue the letter as instructed

Very efficient and painless if somewhat expensive

It might be a good idea to get your letter legalised by the MFA in Bangkok.

We are waiting for the official word on this one but it seems likely that after 01 October this year you may well need to get this done. If you do it soon you will avoid having to get yet another letter next year. The word is that the letter must not be more than one year old when presented for legalisation. It should then be good for the life of your passport.

Thanks for the reminder but I will renew on 5 September well before the October 1. Also as I will be doing it up country I excpect no problems this time and as it is only a rumor, plenty oftime tohave the MFA stamp later on. If They keep my original this time......

given that we just had a thread about the income letter and I was authoritatively informed that an old income letter does not lapse, why did you feel you needed a new one?

Because I will not apply at the same office (CM) as you.

As you know all imigration officies have their own rules

Mine told me that asI have changed my adress I needed a new one so I diligently complied
