October 19, 2025Oct 19 Popular Post Interesting. Although I consider myself to be 'English', my middle brother has done extensive family ancestor research. My grandmother (who I vaguely remember when I was about 12 years old) was 100% an Ashkenazi Jew. Under Israel's Right of Return law, it seems that I would have the legal right to an Israeli passport and to settle in Israel 🙂
October 19, 2025Oct 19 It's not instant and in a case like yours my understanding is that it would ilkely be veey difficult though I don't know the policies on one grandmother Even in more obvious cases there is a formal process involved. If you're practicing another religion I think you're ineligible. You obviously aren't serious but if you are seek expert advice.

The internal politics there are strange and it doesn't seem like gentile filth is welcome. I worked and became friends with an Israeli guy who tried to explain the workings in Israel. The older the culture the more complex it is. He ditched Canada and moved back when his first grandchild was born.

There is no requirement to be a religious Jew but being active in another religion would generally disqualify. Having a Jewish mother is a strong factor in a return application. But you need to prove stuff which can be hard for secular Jews. Non Jewc can apply based on other programs such as special skills.

Dr Google AI suggests that it is a solid case if one grandparent was Jewish (and provable). The good Dr says I can be non-Jewish or other faith or no faith at all - that's not relevant. But again - just an interesting fact in my family tree.

But they don’t return the favor? What a surprise.

Not free but many Israelis are attracted to the west bank by more affordable housing. Tel Aviv is one of the most expensive cities in the world

October 19, 2025Oct 19 Just now, MalcolmB said: I thought they had a few Christians there? Many Arabs are Christian. We are talking only about right of return for Jews which is one part of Israeli immigration law.

October 19, 2025Oct 19 Simon can also visit the Chabad House in Bangkok. Chabad of Bangkok is a Chabad House in Bangkok, catering primarily to young Israeli tourists. It serves Sabbath meals to hundreds of Jewish travelers every week, including during Jewish religious festivals such as Passover. Entry is restricted to Jews.
October 19, 2025Oct 19 I would like to know why the Author, after having spent most of his adult life in S/E Asia would consider locating in Israel in his old age. Simon, spill your guts.

Or you might get drafted to go shoot women and children. Unless, of course, that's your thing.
October 19, 2025Oct 19 A cool thing about right of return is that it helps create a diverse society in Israel. Argentinian Jews Ethiopian Jews Yeminite Jews. French Jews. South African Jews Etc. https://youtube.com/shorts/HnYC2O85Mtw?si=aXUTqWzagFVABM4r

I don't think he's a Jew or seeking conversion either. So no point in your suggestion .

Although their "book" is not much older than 200 years.

AI Overview Yes, having an Israeli grandmother could allow you to play for the Israeli football team, as FIFA eligibility rules permit playing for a country based on ancestry ISTBC - but it may entitle you to enter the Eurovision song contest too.

Thailand is another example of this and it's very cohesive and peaceful society/ What about returning the US to a white Christian state as it once was? The US is currently plagued with racial tensions and this would go away if we returned it to the pre-1965 demographics. I would consider this making America great again.
