Trump Declares War On 'ISIS Of The West' In Fiery Cartel Crackdown

U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to wage an unprecedented war on drug cartels, branding them “the ISIS of the West” during a high-powered White House roundtable on Homeland Security.

Flanked by his national security team — including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, FBI Director Kash Patel, and DNI Tulsi Gabbard — Trump praised the success of the new Homeland Security Task Forces while unleashing a ferocious rebuke of cartel violence and Biden-era border failures.

“These groups have unleashed more bloodshed and killing on American soil than all other terrorist groups combined,” Trump said. “It should now be clear to the entire world that the cartels are the ISIS of the Western Hemisphere.”

Trump accused the previous administration of letting cartels “frankly take over our country,” saying his new task forces had already achieved “thousands of arrests” and seized drugs and weapons across the nation.

“The cartels are waging war in America,” he declared. “And just as I promised in the campaign, we are waging war on them like they’ve never seen before. All you have to do is turn on the television and you’ll see what’s happening to them.”

Under Trump’s executive order, the task forces are directed to dismantle transnational criminal organizations, shut down human smuggling and trafficking — with special focus on crimes against children — and deploy “all available law enforcement tools” to enforce immigration law.

Fox News reports the joint operations became fully operational in late August and are now coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies nationwide.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump brands Mexican cartels “ISIS of the West” and vows to “wage war” on them.

  • Executive order directs task forces to dismantle smuggling, trafficking, and gang networks.

  • White House credits new Homeland Security Task Forces with thousands of arrests since August.
