Looking to update, repair or replace an older Android T95 TV box.  Installed by some UK Farang about 4 years ago.  On site please.  Any recommendation will be welcome.

Thanks.

  • If you want a bit more performance and longevity, take a look at the HK1 RBox X50 at around 1450 baht. Around 300 baht more than it's predecessor, the X4, listed two posts earlier.

Time to replace. Are you referring to reinstalling some kind of IPTV functions or KODI?

For what were you using it?

Reminds me that I haven't seen @Jai Dee around here for a while...

I don't know what KODI is............. I was using it to get various TV/Internet video from an Internet connection.  I'm now losing access to YouTube and lost "Sky" long ago. Clicking on YouTube just loops back to the icon. The T95 is connected to my WIFI and then to a Sharp (brand) TV.

The guy who sold it to me and installed it, was a Brit with heavily accented (London?) English very difficult to understand.  I picked up every tenth word or so and he was in a hurry.

I agree it needs a significant update or a total replacement.

Thanks for your reply.

These are the top performers for IPTV streaming, Youtube, movies, whatever, very good remote, VERY good iptv player, but they are premium priced.

Not partial to technology, brand or color.  I just need some smart individual to come to my door, spend less than an hour fixing the damn thing and going away with cash.  Suits me fine.

Actually the box is still usable, albeit with just an Allwinner 616 CPU. It runs Android 10, which isn't that bad.

Even if you decide to upgrade it, there is no need to spend the kind of money suggested, without any explanation of why you should do so.

Added to that, they don't have any products for sale: https://shopee.co.th/saengrudei

No need to spend more than 2k unless you have some specific need.

But as you allude, your sticking point is not hardware, but the need for someone to update the software installed.

I suggest you change your subject title or start a new thread asking about IPTV providers and how to install their packages.

Quite a few use their services here, so you'll get some feedback. I suspect then the sticking point will be someone to install it for you, as doing it yourself seems as if it might be a bit of a leap.

I suspect what you purchased was a Fully Loaded Android Box, wherein the local seller might update the box periodically for you.

This kind of thing: https://shopee.co.th/product/10758731/6196629643

It's not a recommendation. More of a demonstration that I understand what you mean.

Perhaps get a moderator to adapt your title to fit what you need. I expect you'll get a few PM's from the usual suspects.

Okay, I understand. Its probably not so difficult to get your problems resolved with your device unless it was hit by an errant SCUD missile. So, what is the box doing or NOT doing?

Update the apps including youtube and give that a go. Being an Android device, you need to have your google account logged in on the T95, and when you open Google play on the box store it will show all the apps installed by Playstore and what apps need to be updated. If you don't have a google account or you lost your login details, make a new account and login on the google playstore on the T95. Start with that and see how it goes.

Scud missiles haven't appeared - neither have Drones.  First I lost access to "Sky" and "Sky News." more recent;y to YouTube which appears on the App screen (see attached), but just loops back to the App Screen Icon and never starts.  Same result with a screen freeze when trying to install YouTube.  Most other Apps aren't working.

The guy who installed the ting and sold it too me was fixated on porn, so there are plenty of porn Apps about which I could care less.

Open Google playstore app on the T95 and check on the status of your google account or even if you are logged in on the T95. Without that, you're likely dead in the water. And the apps will behave erratically like you describe if they are old outdated versions. This is necessary 1st step in troubleshooting to restore YouTube functionality.

Right.........there are three (3) icons on the T95 App Screen that are marked "Google Pl..." One is a puzzle piece.  None of them do anything when I select and click on them.  I was able to verify on my laptop that I am logged into the T-95, but that's all.

Tried to install the latest version of Kodi (V21.2apk) and it failed after a few minutes of the installation.  Update of "SPMC" seemed to work.  Apstarter was the newest version.

Still can't get Google Play/Store to load.

I found a place to download YouTube (69.43Meg), and it downloaded.  When "Install" turned green, I clicked on that and got only a large YouTube Icon on the scree.  No words,  no instructions and no change.  This thing is seriously broken and beyond me.  Thanks for your help nonetheless

Is the box 4 years old?

Try resetting it.

Method 1: Soft Factory Reset (Via Settings – If Box Boots Normally)
    1.    Power on the T95 and connect it to your TV via HDMI.
    2.    From the home screen, go to Settings (gear icon) > Device Preferences (or System) > Reset (or Storage & Reset).
    3.    Select Factory data reset or Erase all data (factory reset).
    4.    Confirm by selecting Reset or Erase everything. The box will reboot and wipe data (takes 5–10 minutes).
    5.    After reset, set up the device like new (Wi-Fi, Google account, etc.).
This method retains pre-installed apps but removes your customizations.

Method 2: Hard Reset (Physical Button – For Frozen/Unresponsive Box)
The reset button is a small pinhole inside the AV port (composite video jack, usually on the side or back—use a paperclip or pin).
    1.    Power off the box (unplug from wall for 30 seconds).
    2.    Plug in the power cable.
    3.    Insert the pin into the AV hole and press/hold the reset button (about 10–15 seconds) while the box powers on. You may see the Android logo or recovery screen.
    4.    Release when the box vibrates or shows the reset menu (if not, repeat: hold 15s, unplug while holding another 15s, replug, wait 15s, release).
    5.    If a menu appears, select Wipe data/factory reset > Yes > Reboot system now.
    6.    The box will erase data and restart (10–20 minutes).

On the Soft Reset: I can go to SYSTEM and get a REBOOT option.  However, It has a message "Attention: This feature has been removed from the APP Starter hold "Enter/Select" button + "Play" button to restart FIreTV."  My controller does not have a "Play Button."

Regarding the HARD RESET: There is a small pinhole on the back of the T95.  I do not get any vibration or reset menu when unplugging, replugging and depressing anything inside that pinhole following your instructions.

You're certainly welcome to give it a go if you can stop by.  I'm in the Condos of what was called the Centara before the Chinese conman in Singapore lost the building and a lot else with his arrest.  You're right - it's directly across from the ne Avenue Boutique sales office.

T95.jpg

It is Android 10

if you search it clearly states  Unsupported as of March 6, 2023 Google Play Services

Likewise Android 12   Google ended support for Android 12 and 12L as of October 1, 2025.

So if you need a new box then get the newest Android 14 or 15  plenty around for 1,000 =  2,000 baht max

Not sure about these very cheap 4 - 600 baht no brand with so say Android 14 boxes,  Maybe pot luck if they work

I still use my T95

Livenet TV and TapTV work fine

You have a lot of programs -  go to setting  [3rd button down then to settings bottom right]]] - then show apps when the list is loaded click on the one you do not want will give options = uninstal  repeat for each one

likewise the ones you do watch  click update

also go to top button and be sure your clock + date is correct

then go back to start - on the bottom is a brush, click on it and will clean up the system

The pinhole button should have the words RESET next to it. You remove the power cord from the box, press the button in until it clicks and then hold it there. Whilst holding it in, plug the cord back in.

Then you can let go. Let it do it's thing.

If it works and you want to regain SKY, you can send the likes of @KannikaP and @CallumWK a PM to ask about their IPTV solution. I think KannikaP mentioned that he paid around 2200 baht per annum for service.

If you just want YouTube, Movies and TV series, there are free options for that.

Thanks for asking,

Do you need help in choosing a new Android box? Has anyone sent you a PM with suggestions for a new IPTV provider?

It's not something that I use, so someone who uses that on a regular basis may be able to help in that regard.
