Thai Herbal Hong Thai Ltd. has recalled its Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler Formula 2 following a contamination finding by Thailand health officials. The recall pertains to Lot 000332, produced in December 2024, after the FDA detected microbial levels exceeding safety limits. This has prompted a swift public safety alert.

The contamination was discovered during routine FDA inspections, with no details yet on the specific bacteria involved. Founder Teerapong Rabueathum assured that only Lot 332 is affected, and other products remain safe. The company reported that internal tests had consistently shown no previous irregularities.

Hong Thai is actively retrieving the affected products, although some have already been sold. The destruction of remaining units will occur on November 4 under FDA supervision, after which a public statement will be issued. Meanwhile, the company has pledged to enhance quality control by incorporating UV sterilization processes.

Consumer safety remains a priority, with full refunds and replacements available for those possessing products from the compromised batch. Customers can return items to their Bangkok office or contact them via provided phone numbers. The company expressed sincere apologies for the inconvenience and reiterated its commitment to safety.

Experts note that such recalls highlight the importance of rigorous safety checks, providing reassurance despite the potential impact on the company’s reputation. Moving forward, Hong Thai is determined to restore consumer trust by implementing stricter safety protocols.

Looking ahead, the FDA meeting is expected to bring clearer insights into the contamination issue. The company aims to finalize improvements in its manufacturing processes, ensuring all future batches meet stringent safety standards.
