No mention of their type of visa.

  • He’ll dump her for a Thai bargirl from Isaan soon.

So they've been here a month? Good luck to them but they really need to be here a year or so to experience the joys and the frustrations of Thailand before they pass judgement.

If a Western couple work online and that is their sole means of income, relocating to Thailand on a DTV visa absolutely makes sense.

There are some good international universities here, so can also develop one's career with a Ph.D in TikTok Content Creation.

Why? She is more tattooed than a bargirl and I expect that he's no catch.

I thought I might have been the only one to notice this disfigurement and self-mutilation, on such a GRAND SCALE.

I would prefer not to see this type around my neighborhood.

It's extremely doubtful I might have anything in common with these two...

There is NO WAY that Thailand could ever hope to absorb the full compliment of such detritus from around the world, particularly from countries such as the USA, Canada, UK, and many others.

If these lowlifes continue to invade, just upon a whim and a wing and a prayer, then many of us will need to move out, somewhere, and maybe China, but this is just too early to say.

Miss Roshni Ward should dump her farang boyfriend and marry a Thai guy.  Three years and she could apply for citizenship.  One year if her Thai sugar-daddy puts a bun in her oven.

Brilliant!

Yep, it is! You are 100% right. Sweden once was a very good country, but the last 20 years they just shoot nail after nail in the coffin like a support team on speed dial.

Look up Barbara Spectre. She had a different view of what Europe should look like a few years ago. You got it.

To be more accurate, the couple are probably sick and tired of this horrific Labour government and thier money grabbing Tax policies, extremely high cost of living and the terrible Migrant invasion

Nothing cheap anywhere in Canada and the winter weather is a challenge.

Utter nonsense. Move outside the main provinces and you are fine.

Same with London. Central London is ridiculous. But move a little out of the way (a mere 20-30 train commute) and into the boroughs like Slough, Cryodon and things become cheaper.

Furthermore if you want to venture even further out you can get massive 4-5 bedrooms home in the north east of England with gardens for pittance.

The whole 'we can't afford it in the UK' is total nonsense. What you mean is you cannot afford to be in the location you want. Well hello, when i was looking at a home in Bangkok i wanted to stay in Thong Lo, but for the price and size of the condo i was paying (including the ridiculous level of construction going on), i just 4-5 stops away on the BTS for half the price and a bigger room.

People chat too much nonsense. Thailand is not cheap either. If you want a decent standard of living it's going to cost you.

If you are happy eating raw chicken cooked in dishwasher water, or red unhealthy meats like Pork cooked in vinegar urine, or eat meats that have been left lying around for hours on a cart then heated up and then proceed to wax lyrical how amazing it is i do wonder what you have been eating in your western world.

There's nothing wrong with coming a for a big long holiday, but don't chat crap that you won't return when you get into trouble, or have children and want to put them into school.

The UK should close the loop hole that allows these citizens to return.

Lol, wait until they find out they really like that lovely comforting A/C

it seems like they never clean their AC filters. Looks like my local Starbucks. The AC filters are black. Makes me wonder what else they do not clean in those places.

Unless he owned a business and had employees (national insurance tax hike) his tax rate would not have changed from this Labour government.

And yet almost every Thai man or woman I encounter seems to be single, divorced, or separated.

And probably had ten kids with different partners. I knew a gal there that had two kids and her ex husband had 12 kids with different women. Got older and Viagra stopped working, he decided to become a monk.

A favourite amongst many of these Brits of we are packing up and going to Thailand nonsense - is they claim 'WE ARE GOING TO HOME SCHOOL OUR CHILDREN'. They don't look like they got brain cell between them, yet claim they will sit down 6-8 horus a day home schooling their children.

An utter crock. Schooling is not just about education.

Selfish parents.

This garbage is being promoted in the media 24/7. Good luck!

Good luck to you. Be very careful on the roads.

Wow always negative comments, just welcome the couple to settle here and make a new life for themselves, give them a break !!

After you live here for a decade or two, you DO understand how the real world actually works.  This isn't "negative comments" but long-term expats chiming in with the realities of living here.

You mean that this is nothing but a strategy, using propaganda, to increase arrivals, and nothing more?

It doesn't actually seem like anyone might welcome more YouTubers and Fly-By-Night fitness instructors.

Also, how would a fitness instructor qualify for a visa, since would not Thai instructors be superior?

Certainly, I would say that a good Thai instructor would be far superior to any little runt, visiting from overseas.

Now you got me drooling again....

This might have always been a dream of mine (honestly).

Just what kind of a cultural transition I might be able to make at this late date in my life, I am not sure.

Teaching old dogs new tricks, and all that....

These puff articles are always some deluded story about how cool it is, and these two probably moved here like a few months ago and have had no time for all the nonsense to set in. Achieving longevity here in Thailand takes a lot of effort and organisation... it's not some fantasy-land experience and nonsense.

The only way to really realise longevity here is to work and get a WP or be rich and meet the requirements and not screwing it all up.

Staying sort-term in Thailand is easy... but staying long term is a pro-job of sorting stuff out. Do not believe these articles that claim it is so easy... it's not.

I agree with you that these types of stories on this forum do elicit a lot of negative comments, especially when you compare them to the gushy "I wish you all the best', "you seem like such a wonderful couple," "ignore the hater's " comments which typically fill up the comment sections of the content creator's' U-tube channel, usually coming from family and friends back home or people who have never set foot in the country or have only visited on vacation and are living vicariously through their journey.

But the question I have for them (and perhaps you) is: "When does being 'supportive' and 'positive' start becoming 'enabling?" There's a lot of magical and delusional thinking, and unrealistic planning going on out there which often goes unchallenged by the content creator's loyal U-tube supporters. When their story gets aired outside of this insular cocoon, the feedback can indeed be a brutal reality check, but I'm not convinced that's a bad thing.

I agree with most of your comment, having been retired here for 13 years, now aged 67++. I'm not rich yet have a modest excellent lifestyle with wifey. There is no "pro-job" of sorting it out required. Just relax & use common sense.🙃🙃

Why is this even a news story?

"""The only way to really realise longevity here is to work and get a WP or be rich and meet the requirements and not screwing it all up"""

OR

Retire here ( 12 years - age is 80 ) after meeting the Immigration  regulations / requirements, having and living on a fixed income to count on, being  on the consertive side, finding good housing at reasonable cost, staying with the same THAI woman 8 years, wanting a slower, quieter ( but active ) lifestyle AND living in the proper .....LOCATION.....

NOTE

IF you are thinking about moving to Thailand and are RESEARCHING options, I suggest 2 30 day "holiday" visits to get the lay of the land, DO NOT MOVE IN THE COLD!

The most recent posts but probably the most accurate and worthwhile on the topic.  👍

I hope they both (unmarried?) have good healthcare coverage, although I doubt either has Thailand and/or foreign healthcare insurance coming from Britain. Especially since health insurance is not a mandatory requirement for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) as foreigners are not part of the national healthcare system.

You lot put expats in a negative light.

Why don't you go back to where you come from and let the rest of us enjoy Thailand.

I have been here 16 years and love it here.

Surely not every single place in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia and NZ is unaffordable?

Not all but a great many and it’s only getting worse.

Blimey the Aseannow cynics are out in force on this one!
I haven’t ever read so many disparaging comments on a topic until now.

I don’t blame anyone for trying to better their lives in a country that they love, isn’t that what those of us that live here are doing?

When I see what 2 tier Starmer is doing to wreck the UK I would encourage anyone to get the hell out!
