Judge Orders Full November SNAP Payments by Trump Administration

In a decisive move, a federal judge in Rhode Island has mandated that the Trump administration must fully fund food stamp benefits for November. This order impacts millions of Americans relying on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The ruling came after the administration planned to provide only partial benefits, using $4.65 billion from a contingency fund.

US District Judge John McConnell's order follows his earlier directive, which the government had not adhered to promptly. During an urgent hearing, McConnell criticised the administration's decision as "arbitrary and capricious" for not releasing funds promptly. He highlighted the urgent need for support, stating that delaying payments further was unacceptable.

The ruling requires the government to access additional funds held by the US Department of Agriculture to ensure full benefits are paid by Friday. This immediate action aims to support nearly 42 million Americans receiving food stamps, with payments distributed throughout the month, reported CNN.

Experts see this as a vital intervention to maintain the welfare of low-income families across the country. The decision underscores the judiciary's role in holding the government accountable for its commitments.

Looking forward, the administration's compliance with McConnell's order will be closely monitored to ensure timely disbursement of benefits. This development is crucial for states administering SNAP, as they work to deliver funds to eligible individuals and families without delays.

Key Takeaways:

  • A federal judge ordered full SNAP payments for November.
  • The government initially planned partial payments from a contingency fund.
  • The additional funds must be accessed and distributed by Friday.

The SC paused it for 48 hrs.
The judge has no right and its unconstitutional to fund it this way.
Can't wait for them to all but eliminate SNAP and all the other crap we pay for.

I remember the days of working shoreside, put in my 10 hr shift at a lousy warehouse, cash my check, buy groceries, I'm buying cheap because money is tight and cart in front is piled with the foods I can't afford and they're paying with EBT. And if you say anything you're the bad person.

Standing in line with the lard assed mommies buying everything prepackaged, precooked for their fat assed kids. Grooming the next generation for benefits.
