In Bulacan, police fatally shot a suspect involved in a convenience store robbery in Sta. Rosa 1, Marilao, on the evening of Monday, November 10. The suspect, wearing a red hoodie, allegedly threatened the cashier with a gun and demanded she open the cash register. After securing approximately ₱20,000, he instructed her to go to the storage room before fleeing.

The cashier immediately contacted the police for assistance. According to P/Gen. Ponce Peñones, Jr., regional director of Police Regional Office 3, Bulacan’s convenience stores are linked to the police network, enabling quick response times. When officers arrived, they engaged in a shootout with the suspect near the store, resulting in his death; he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Investigations revealed the suspect to be a Caloocan police captain, head of the Investigation and Detective Management Section at the North Caloocan police station. He used his issued firearm during the robbery. The incident has raised concerns about police accountability and internal oversight.

Moving forward, authorities may review current procedures involving issued firearms and officers' conduct to prevent similar incidents. The community and police department are focusing on strengthening trust and ensuring safety for residents and businesses alike.
