November 28, 2025Nov 28 Hi all, I have a degree with my full first name, middle names as initials, and my full last name. Obviously, my passport has my complete name. As my full name in my passport doesn’t match my name (with initials) on my degree, I foresee some difficulties when applying for a work permit. I was wondering if anyone here has some experience with applying for a work permit with initials on their degree? many thanks in advance. Mike

Will be interested in first hand reply My guess is that as your permission of stay is from pp details and that's what you will use. Guys with work permit will advise.

Guys with work permit will advise. Same here !! I’m thinking about contacting my university for a replacement document with a name change or a Confirmation letter confirming my name, but it’s kinda a hassle. It’s quite common in the west to put initials on degrees, so there must be people on this Form who were in a similar situation. I’m interested to know if they were successful or what steps they had to take to solve this problem.

November 29, 2025Nov 29 Sadly, that is outside my limited scope of knowledge 😮 While I do know entry/visa/extension stuff inside, outside, upside down, in a box, with a fox 😛 I don't know work permit stuff thru Ministry of Labour. They're going you have to pay a visit to the MOL or talk to their employer.. Sorry . 😕
November 29, 2025Nov 29 Generally speaking, for lack of specific experience with degrees that have (parts of) middle names missing: I don't think Thais are big on middle names. My home country driving license didn't have my middle name (not even the initial), and while it had me a bit worried, nobody at the DLT even mentioned this when I used it to obtain my Thai driving license. It was accepted without fuss. The first few bank accounts that I opened in Thailand (around 20 years ago) also don't have my middle name, and they remain to be usable without any issues within Thailand so far. A U.S. broker that doesn't allow SWIFT transfers to 3rd party accounts, on the other hand, insisted on an exact name match, so I had to transfer to another Thai bank account that does have my middle name.
