Trump is more vulnerable than ever right now

Many MAGA supporters are unhappy with Trump's total failure to bring down prices and make their lives more affordable. This could end up crushing him. His unwillingness to even address it makes him seem like the out of touch multi billionaire he really is. And many GOP members of Congress and the Senate are finally growing some cajones, and standing up to him and pushing back. This is how a democracy is supposed to work.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to guess that Republicans have their work cut out for them in next year’s midterm elections. But it’s still surprising to hear the head of the Republican National Committee — who won the post with President Donald Trump's support — say so out loud.

“It’s not a secret,” RNC Chair Joe Gruters said in a recent radio interview, The Bulwark noted. “There’s no sugarcoating it. It’s a pending, looming disaster heading our way.” Gruters actually comes across as gentle compared to other insiders, who are placing the blame squarely at Trump’s feet.

“His message sucks,” one GOP strategist told The Bulwark. “It’s absolute trash.”

Somebody made a horrible decision. Somebody needs to be held accountable for the 2nd boat strike.

From North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis.

The strikes are not the only actions that have spurred a handful of Republicans to express a little daylight with the Trump administration. Some have criticized Trump's tariffs...

SUSAN COLLINS: Our lobstermen, our blueberry growers, our potato farmers will pay the price.

And in inaction on expiring health subsidies...

JOSHUA HAWLEY: We are looking at a massive crisis unless Congress acts.

On the proposed Ukraine peace plan...

DON BACON: It's not conservative to appease Putin, nor is it conservative to have a lack of moral clarity who's at fault of this war.

After months of the White House steamrolling Congress on tariffs, appropriations and military intervention, even this careful pushback is a departure, says former Republican Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona. He says the shift is accelerating with Trump's declining approval rating and after Republicans' poor performance in off-year elections last month.

JEFF FLAKE: There was a lot of fear about what he could do to you electorally. That's diminishing.

“Telling people they don’t know what’s going on in their lives is a mistake, and that won’t work,” said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the right-leaning American Action Forum and a longtime Republican economic adviser. “But he’s not going to change his tune, and his tune is not helpful at the moment.”

Trump’s persistently rosy outlook on the economy — including again declaring affordability a “hoax” advanced by Democrats — has dented hopes that the president will be willing to substantially shift his messaging, despite clear warning signs and a concerted push by various aides and allies.

“The first thing in terms of recovery is acknowledging there’s a problem,” said Matthew Bartlett, a GOP strategist and first-term Trump official. “Being an ostrich in politics and putting your head in the sand is never a good strategy, much less a winning strategy.”

In polling, Trump’s standing on the economy has sharply declined, driven by frustration with high prices, a slowing labor market and the perception that conditions are getting worse.

Across much of the rest of the party, though, few share Trump’s adamant optimism — and worry that it’s increasingly unhelpful to the GOP’s chances next year.

Asked about Trump’s message on affordability, GOP Sen. Shelley Moore Capito countered that in her state of West Virginia, “a lot of people are still having trouble making ends meet.”

There are also signs that Trump’s influence over his party has its limits, and he failed Thursday to persuade Indiana state senators to approve a new congressional map that could have helped Republicans pick up two more seats.

Perhaps most concerning for Republicans, Trump is losing ground on the very issues that powered his comeback victory last year, potentially undermining his utility as a surrogate for the party’s candidates in the midterm elections. Only 31% of U.S. adults now approve of how he’s handling the economy, down from 40% in March, according to a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Trump has struggled to acknowledge the public’s concern, telling Politico this week that he gave himself an “A+++++” on the economy.

Is Tariff Don completely tone deaf? Or does his wealth insulate him to the point where these things just don't matter?

If people suddenly pay thousands of dollars more for health care, I don’t know what kind of messaging is going to matter in that circumstance,” said Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif. “It is what it is. And so we can try to (say) ‘oh it’s their fault or our fault.’ Unfortunately, that’s what a lot of the energy around here seems to be devoted to.”

They were best friends for two decades. Denial won't change history.

In 2002, Trump told the New York Magazine that he'd "known Jeff for 15 years" and described him as a "terrific guy". "He's a lot of fun to be with," Trump said at the time.

"It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."

"We have certain things in common," says Donald, to which Jeffrey responds: "Yes, we do, come to think of it."

"Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?" Donald asks.

"As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you," Jeffrey says.

"A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret," the note ends, followed by Mr Trump's signature, which takes the place of pubic hair on the nude outline.

Unfortunately nothing new is show  in those 19  pictures. So they have to go  thru 95 000 pictures from Epstein computer... I am sure so many people are not sleeping well...No wonder they just keep the wars, pandemics, immigration and other issues in the news. They need more distraction. It is no surprise why  Microsoft is being made in Israel by the Israel's intel.

Nice job finding that.

So your fingers and toes are crossed that he is found guilty on the Epstein charges and taken down?

Keep your toes crossed and let us know what else you come up with.

And who do you want to replace him with? Kamala? You like her sense of humor? She doesn't rub you the wrong way because she's not too much of an "egoist?"

In my view the republican lawmakers are reading the tea leaves, they know full well what’s going to happen when trump finally kills American health care so his rich buddies can take advantage of sick people……they see the point spread in elections they are losing…..they see the economy starting to tank….trumps betrayal of Ukraine and his sucky sucky groveling to putin ain’t going over well with many of them. The pendulum is swinging back gaining speed and strength.

I forecast this at the beginning of the year, there will be a state of emergency and no elections. It's a classic dictator's playbook.

So if there's no emergency and no martial law you will be voting mid-terms.

Trump and Epstein were buddies for two decades. Even IF Trump never violated underage girls, there is no way he could not have known that was Epstein's thing....yet he remained best friends. Arguing otherwise, like "How could he have known?" is saying Trump is an idiot (which he is, but not likely in the case of Epstein).

As for their "breakup", the reality as told by Michael Cohen tells a different story than Trump's "When I found out, I kicked him out of the club".

According to Cohen, Epstein found a fancy house for sale in Palm Beach. He asked his buddy Trump to tell him if it looked like a good deal. Trump subsequently front ran Epstein and bought the home (and mortgaged it by saying it would be a personal residence.). Trump then sold it to a Russian oligarch (a "classy" guy who painted the Greek statues so they would have red nipples and black in the nether regions).

Trump's front running led to arguments between Trump and Epstein, and THEN Trump kicked Epstein out of his club.

As for the Epstein files revealing others who buddies up to Epstein, so be it, no matter who, no matter what Party.

That is a total and complete unwillingness to address the issues. Pure deflection. Overly defensive and not helpful.

A far more serious type of bank fraud than James is being accused of. And he has likely done this throughout his career. Bordering on mobster tactics.
