Beatrice and Eugenie join King Charles party, Andrew not invited

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie spent Christmas with King Charles at Sandringham, in what courtiers see as a clear signal about their continued place within The Firm — even as their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, remained firmly out in the cold.

The disgraced former Duke of York was photographed leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor alone on Christmas morning, wrapped in a scarf and waterproof jacket, while his daughters and their husbands joined senior royals on the traditional walk to St Mary Magdalene Church. There was no sign of his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

Royal sources say the King is determined that Beatrice and Eugenie — “blood princesses” who retain their York titles — should not be punished for their father’s scandals, and remains personally fond of them. Their appearance comes as anger continues over Andrew’s past friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Some of Epstein’s victims have publicly called for Andrew to face prosecution, though he denies wrongdoing.

Andrew has already lost his remaining royal titles and been pressured to leave his 30-room Windsor home. He is expected to relocate to the King’s Sandringham estate next year, with removal vans already seen transporting belongings.

Crowds of more than 500 gathered in Norfolk to see the Royal Family, led by a smiling King Charles alongside Queen Camilla in festive red. Well-wishers said they were pleased to see Beatrice and Eugenie attend despite the controversy surrounding their father, describing the sisters as blameless and dignified.

Other royals present included the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh with their children, as well as Princess Anne and Zara Tindall. Many in the crowd said the King had handled Andrew’s situation firmly but fairly, allowing the family to celebrate together without distraction.

Key Takeaways

  • Beatrice and Eugenie joined the Royal Family at Sandringham, while their father Andrew spent Christmas separately at Royal Lodge in Windsor.

  • King Charles is seen as supporting the princesses’ ongoing role, despite Andrew’s scandals and his past association with Jeffrey Epstein.

  • Public reaction was largely supportive of the sisters’ attendance, with many praising the King’s handling of Andrew’s reduced status.
