Police have dismantled an illegal moneylending network operating under the name “Ball Line” in Pathum Thani, arresting five suspects and seizing extensive loan records. The crackdown targeted activities in Khlong Luang district, where borrowers were charged interest of 20% every 24 days, far exceeding legal limits. Authorities said the operation has immediately disrupted a network that caused severe financial distress in local communities.

The arrests were carried out on December 27, 2025, by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), led by the Crime Suppression Division. Officers from Subdivision 2 raided a house in Moo 4, Khlong Song subdistrict, after intelligence confirmed illegal lending and debt collection practices. The operation was conducted under the direction of Pol Lt Gen Nattasak Cheowanasai, Commander of the CIB, along with senior officers.

Four suspects were arrested at the scene and charged with jointly operating an unlicensed personal loan business and charging interest above the legal rate. They were identified as Mr Attakrit, 24, Mr Kritsakon, 20, Mr Thana, 29, and Mr Niti, 22. A fifth suspect, Mr Phakphum, 31, was arrested separately under four outstanding warrants issued by Suphan Buri Provincial Court and Suphan Buri District Court for narcotics-related offences.

Police seized 25 loan account books, three sets of loan business cards and three calculators as evidence. During questioning, the suspects admitted to distributing loan advertisements across several areas of Pathum Thani and actively pursuing debt repayments. Investigators stated that the group moved between provinces before establishing a base in Pathum Thani.

Further inquiries identified Mr Phakhawin, also known as “Ball”, aged 31, as the alleged leader of the “Ball Line” network. Police said he remains at large and efforts are under way to track him down and expand the investigation to other members. It was also confirmed that Mr Attakrit is wanted under a separate arrest warrant from Suphan Buri District Court for drug use.

Thaitabloid reported that all suspects and seized items were handed over to investigators at Khlong Luang Police Station for legal proceedings, while Mr Phakphum was transferred to Suphan Buri Provincial Court. Police warned the public against using illegal lenders, citing risks of excessive debt, intimidation and violence. They reiterated that unlicensed lending and charging interest above 15% per year is a criminal offence punishable by law.
