A construction worker died after falling from a steel beam at a drainage tunnel construction site along Khlong Prem Prachakorn in Bangkok early on 28 December, prompting a police investigation and formal post-mortem procedures. The incident occurred at approximately 04.30 and resulted in the immediate death of the worker at the scene. Police confirmed there were no signs of foul play and that the family has been notified.

The incident took place at a construction site for the Khlong Prem Prachakorn drainage tunnel project, which runs from Khlong Bang Bua to the Chao Phraya River. The site is located beside Wat Soi Thong on Pracharat Sai 1 Road in Bang Sue district, Bangkok, and is operated by Italian-Thai Development Plc. Officers from Bang Pho Police Station attended the scene following a report of a man falling from height.

At the scene, police found the body of a male worker wearing a navy long-sleeved shirt and black trousers, with visible injuries and bruising consistent with a fall from height. Personal belongings included a brown shoulder bag containing an identification card, a notebook and personal items. The deceased was identified as Mr Samai, aged 59, who was working within the drainage tunnel beneath the construction structure.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Mr Samai had dropped his mobile phone onto a steel beam while working at height. As he bent down to retrieve the phone, he lost his balance and fell from the structure into the tunnel area below. Police officers recorded the scene, gathered initial evidence and contacted the deceased’s relatives.

According to police, the family has stated they have no concerns regarding the circumstances of the death. The body was transferred to Phramongkutklao Hospital for a post-mortem examination to formally determine the cause of death, in line with standard legal procedures. Investigators will compile findings as part of routine documentation for workplace fatalities.

Matichon reported that police will finalise the investigation after the autopsy results are completed and formally close the case if no additional issues arise. Relevant authorities are expected to continue standard oversight of the construction project as work proceeds. No further action has been announced beyond the completion of forensic and administrative processes.
