Yeah, there's a woman in the comments saying she just happened to be there with her older brother when she was 15… Compare that to now when you have to pay insane amounts to watch them on a giant screen in a stadium. Nothing beats small venues, those are the best gigs.

One of my favourite albums is the March 27, '90 self-titled third album. A real barn burner filled with classics such as their down and dirty rendition of Johnny Cash's Ring O fFire.

Jack White is a great guitarist. Loved his '06 rendition of Nancy Sinatra's '66 classic, Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down).

Lest there be any doubt about White's talent here's a snippet of the acclaimed '08 music documentary, It Might Get Loud, which explores the history and playing styles of three generations of electric guitarists — Jimmy Page, U2's Edge, and Whte.

Love the Bass line in this song from Roxy Music and Manzanera's melodic guitar play on this track.

Jack White with the Raconteurs in a live performance of Bang Bang Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down). He covered this tune in a number of live shows and it's hard for me to pick and choose so here's a random one.

It's the rawness in the White Stripes which always appealed to me.

What a mesmerising 13 minutes those were, I will watch It Might Get Loud over the weekend.

Same here. Raw emotion given free, uninhibited expression. Just lovely. Janis Joplin had that same quality. As did Joe Cocker. They all gave mesmerizing performance. So many more one could list.

I was born in Manchester and therefore was into the 80s/90s "Manchester scene" – The Smiths were influenced by Roxy Music. I'll take the opportunity to post this gem here. Morrissey performing this Smiths classic during a solo concert in 2004:

I grew up on Glam Rock T.Rex was and still is close to mt heart if you listen to " Get it On " the opening Riff was used by Oasis on Ciggerettes and Alcahol. Bolan could rock as this proves the opening and heavy rock Power chords bring this track together with no effect pedals just a Gibson Les Paul through a Marshal 100 amp and 4x12 cabinet.
