The government’s Khon La Khrueng Plus co-payment scheme concluded with over 9.21 million participants fully utilizing their benefits, while more than 10.5 million did not use their entire quotas. The Finance Ministry reported that the program generated 84.18 billion baht in spending, contributing to an economic growth boost of approximately 0.2% for 2025. The scheme, which ended at 11 pm on Wednesday, aimed to stimulate consumer spending and support small businesses across Thailand.

Launched to encourage consumer spending, the program attracted 19.76 million participants. Out of these, 9.21 million utilized their full entitlement, leaving 2 billion baht in unused funds returned to the government. The total expenditure included 42.81 billion baht from public spending and 41.38 billion baht in government co-payments, mainly distributed between general stores and food delivery platforms.

Pongnakorn Pochakorn, director of the Fiscal Policy Office, highlighted the scheme’s success in stimulating regional consumption and noted the partnership between consumers and businesses. He stated that the injection of 84.19 billion baht into the economy notably influenced economic growth projections for 2025. By improving cash flow for small businesses, the scheme also triggered positive effects such as increased production, trade, and employment.

With the program’s conclusion, the focus shifts to maintaining the economic momentum it generated. Enhanced purchasing power and revitalized business activities are expected to carry forward economic benefits into early 2026. Government officials are now assessing the scheme's long-term impact and considering potential future initiatives to continue fostering economic stability and growth, reported Bangkok Post.
