Authorities have identified the female driver who went viral after allegedly displaying a gun in traffic in Cagayan de Oro City on December 29. According to a GMA Network report on January 2, the incident occurred at the intersection of 8th Street and Hayes Street, with the woman in a pickup truck.

Officials are verifying with the Regional Civil Security whether the gun in the viral video is real. Police Captain Emilite Simon stated that the driver reportedly uses a gun to scare away beggars, claiming to have been a victim previously.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Northern Mindanao has issued a show cause order to the driver and the vehicle’s registered owner. The driver’s license may be suspended or revoked since displaying a firearm, even a toy, is unacceptable for intimidation.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine if there are any administrative or criminal liabilities involved, reported Balita.
