“MAGA loves it,” Trump said. “MAGA loves what I’m doing. MAGA loves everything I do. MAGA is me. MAGA loves everything I do, and I love everything I do, too.”

Trump gets almost everything wrong. But this time, he's got it almost exactly right.

Strong men by proxy must be very excited by his latest initiatives! 😄

US oil groups warn they will need guarantees to invest in Venezuela US oil companies want “serious guarantees” from Washington before they make splashy investments in Venezuela as President Donald Tru

Most people don't imagine how messy it is in Venezuela, in particular because of the criminality level.

I used to provide services to an international company that also had an office in Caracas. It was a small subsidiary with max 20 expats in it. One of them was shot dead, and another had to pay a ransom to get his familly freed.

They wanted me to go there for a training seminar. I may have considered the offer, as I was used to go to other rather unsafe countries, such as Mexico, Brazil or El Salvador, but my wife opposed a categorical veto! 😁

That was around 15 years ago. From what I heard, it's even worse now.

Not to worry. Trump has decreed that the violence stop. Of course it will never happen. Only MAGA supporters obey Trump.

Problems for US investment in Venezuela oil business:

  1. Infrastructure practically on its knees

  2. Uncertainty- the oil price has dropped from $140 a barrel in the 1990s to $60 plus today.

  3. Financial commitment- nobody knows how much money needed to invest to get the industry running . Figures from $10 to $20 billion have been quoted however no accurate assessment of Venezuelan infrastructure has been undertaken since 2008.
