A 33-year-old woman has been arrested after fatally stabbing her husband in a dormitory bathroom in Pathum Thani on 11 January, with police confirming the man died at the scene from severe knife wounds. Officers said the suspect remained at the location and confessed through an interpreter following the incident, which occurred at around 13:00 in Khlong Luang district. The case has prompted a full forensic examination and a criminal investigation.

Police from Khlong Luang station responded to reports of a killing at a four-storey dormitory in Soi Thep Kunchon 7, Khlong Nueng subdistrict. Inside room 8 on the ground floor, officers found the body of a 31-year-old Myanmar national, identified as Mr Merin Oo, lying face down in the bathroom. He had sustained deep wounds to his left arm and a severe injury to the neck, with a blue-handled, six-inch pointed kitchen knife found nearby.

The suspect, Ms Wenma, a 33-year-old Myanmar national and the victim’s wife, was present at the scene in a distressed state when officers arrived. Senior police officers, forensic specialists, medical examiners from Thammasat Chalermprakiat Hospital, and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation attended the site. Evidence was documented and collected by forensic police to support the investigation.

According to Ms Wenma’s statement given through an interpreter, the couple had lived together for two years and she had been subjected to repeated physical abuse by her husband. She told police that during the most recent incident over the New Year period, she was beaten so badly she was unable to go to work due to injuries and embarrassment in front of colleagues. On the day of the killing, she said her husband was off work and she took the opportunity to attack him when he was off guard.

Ms Wenma told investigators she intended to strike his neck with the knife and deliberately aimed to sever his left arm. She stated that her husband frequently used that arm to hit her. Police recorded her confession as part of the formal inquiry.

Amarin reported that investigators said the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at Thammasat Chalermprakiat Hospital to confirm the precise cause of death. Police are continuing to question the suspect in detail and will proceed with legal action in accordance with Thai law.

I guess he got what he had coming for some time. However, she could have been smarter and at least try to make it self-defense.
