A drug-fuelled knife attack at an apartment in Bang Pa-in district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, left two women dead and one person seriously injured on the evening of 10 January 2026. Police arrested a 19-year-old man at the scene after he allegedly stabbed his older brother and then attacked neighbours, causing panic among residents and prompting an emergency response from police and rescue workers.

The incident occurred at around 6.00pm when Bang Pa-in Police Station received reports of a man running amok with a knife inside an apartment block in Moo 17, Bang Krasan subdistrict. Officers, investigators and rescue personnel from the Phutthaisawan Foundation were dispatched immediately. At the scene, two elderly women were found with severe stab wounds, while a young man was critically injured inside a room where the suspect had initially barricaded himself.

Police identified the suspect as Mr Sirimongkol Sueaglap, aged 19. One of the injured was his elder brother, Mr Therdsak Sueaglap, aged 20, who was stabbed inside their room and suffered serious injuries. Two neighbours, Mrs Phusadee Sapphakankha, 72 and Ms Renu Manthong, 66, were also attacked; Mrs Phusadee was found slumped against a wall with stab wounds to her neck and body, while Ms Renu was found unconscious outside her room.

Both women were rushed to Bang Pa-in Hospital, but later died from their injuries. Mr Therdsak was taken for emergency treatment after police negotiated with the suspect and secured the room. Officers recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attacks and took Mr Sirimongkol into custody for questioning at Bang Pa-in Police Station.

The suspect’s father, Mr Veera Sueaglap, 56, told police his youngest son had a long history of cannabis and drug use and often spoke incoherently. He said the brothers frequently argued and believed the attack may have been triggered by a dispute over cooking rice. A neighbour, Mr Songkran Kaewnonghee, 56, described hearing screams for help and seeing the suspect stab Ms Renu before retreating to his room.

Daily News reported that Bang Pa-in police chief Pol Col Phiphob Naphutthara said the suspect was incoherent during questioning and has a known history of mental illness. He has been charged with murder and attempted murder and police said legal procedures will be followed strictly. Further investigations are under way as authorities prepare the case for prosecution.
