A fire in Mandaluyong displaced approximately 200 families after destroying 100 homes. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the fire began at 6 a.m. and escalated to a third alarm before being contained by 9:19 a.m. The blaze affected areas near Barangay San Jose at the boundary of Barangay Addition Hills.

Two individuals sustained minor injuries and received on-site treatment from the Philippine Red Cross. In response, the local government established a temporary evacuation center for affected families. Joan Batan, the Barangay San Jose captain, credited the successful containment of the fire to the quick and coordinated actions of fire volunteers.

The fire erupted near Block 36 and was stopped before spreading further, with only walls separating the affected areas from others in San Jose. Batan expressed gratitude for the collaborative community response and noted, "This is another test for our community, but no lives were lost." He emphasized the unity displayed during the incident.

Investigators from the BFP have not determined the cause of the fire or the extent of the property damage. More details and an official report are expected following a thorough investigation into the incident's origins, reported Philstar.
