On start up i now get the following displayed while starting up the computer.

CMOS Checksum error - defaults loaded

PRESS F1 to continue, DEL to enter setup / Q-Flash

I am pressing F1 to to continue and it then goes on to complete the start up with no apparent problems.

I haven,t gone with the other option as i do not know what it may involve and also i don,t think i have the tech. know how to possibly rectify anything that may have to be done to solve the situation.

Thank you in advance as always for any welcomed advice and observations

Most often it's a sign that the battery on your motherboard is failing.

Thanks for the prompt response, C.V.

It possibly fits in with my problem with the clock time going haywire that i posted about before ???

What,s the solution please ?

Does this mean i have to replace the motherboard and if so is it a big job and what,s a reasonable price to pay for it to be fixed ?

No, its normally a very simple job. Here's a good walk through. Brand new the batteries are $10 or so, but if I were you I'd just get one out of an old computer that uses the same battery.

Most motherboards have the simple coin type battery pictured above.
