A police captain in Phetchabun province has paid compensation after being accused of groping a 14-year-old girl while drunk. The alleged assault occurred on January 20, during a community event in Bueng Samphan district, where the officer was on security duty. The girl's mother publicised the incident through social media and news outlets, seeking justice.

According to the mother's interview with Channel 7, her daughter was sitting alone when the officer approached. He demanded to see her identification card, which she did not have. The policeman then persisted and touched several parts of her body, including her breasts, with the mother stating she witnessed the act.

The mother immediately confronted the officer and later filed a formal complaint at Bueng Samphan Police Station. The accused is a captain who recently transferred to the station and is due to retire next year. Superintendent Police Captain Pramook Pimpluem facilitated negotiations between the parties.

A video showed the officer apologising and performing a wai to the girl and her mother. He offered the mother compensation, though the amount was not disclosed. Following this, the mother dropped the legal proceedings against him.

Khoasod reported that the superintendent confirmed an investigation into the officer's conduct is still ongoing. He stated the officer would face punishment in accordance with police regulations.
