The Election Commission (EC) has announced that Sunday, 1 February 2026, will be the advance voting day for registered voters in the upcoming election of Members of Parliament (MPs) and a simultaneous referendum in Thailand. The general election day is scheduled for 8 February 2026. To ensure orderly voting, the EC imposed a temporary prohibition on the sale and distribution of alcohol within election areas during both the advance voting and the main election day.

Thailand's Anti-Fake News Centre (AFNC) processed 4,528 messages for verification, as part of 159,929 monitored messages, according to Wetang Phuangsup, spokesperson for the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) on January 26. The messages primarily originated from social media channels, with Social Listening identifying 4,521, and the LINE Official channel contributing 7. Out of these, 33 issues were flagged for detailed verification, with results already provided for 10.

This increase is attributed to a large smoke plume from agricultural and forest fires in a neighboring province, exacerbated by stagnant air conditions.
