I can't recall the exact time - but applications are only processed in the morning, between 9 AM-11:30 or something like this, and returned at 2 PM the following day.

If you search the ThaiVisa forums, there are several comprehensive posts on the Singapore visa run.

I think you might be pushing it - I can be in my condo which is farther from the airport than the Thai Embassy on Orchard Road in circa 45 minutes after landing on a good day but that is getting a taxi with no queue and I go expressway all the way.

The MRT would be too slow I fear but you might try taxi say to Bugis / Little India and MRT to Orchard but even then I thinks its pushing it and you would have to know exactly where you were going.

Is that the first Tiger flight?

I was on that tigerariways flight last Friday and I didn't step off the plane until 11:35 due to traffic control in Sin in the a.m. when the plane left Sin, and also when we landed it took a while to taxi etc.

That I couldn't tell you, but it would certainly be cutting it close (in case of flight delays, etc).

If its helpful though, the Embassy is very easy to find - about a 5 minute walk from the Orchard Rd. subway station.

Good luck!

Visa application is 09:15 to 11:30. Pick up next day after 14:00. Slim chance of getting to embassy from airport if you arrive at 10:50. Give yourself an extra day. Also check legal holidays for Thailand as well as Singapore. Embassy closes for all of these holidays.

Just reread your post. If you travel on Thursday and you do not reach the embassy before 11:30(you almost certainly will not) you will have to wait until Monday to pick up your passport.

Im considering Singapore for my next tv next month myself because I read they have good deals on electronics.

Couple of questions for anyone who may know pls:

- Are their any visa agents in Singapore (like in Penang)?

- Anyone know where I should head to for electronics (mainly looking at comp stuff. esp intrested in a tablet pc or similar.) Best value places?

- Any info that may be helpful! (such as do you feel its pretty safe, friendly, etc)

Cheers!

P.s: if there is a good TV link on this, then i mustv missed it. If so, apologies for asking same info.

Hmm - you had me all excited there - I noticed on my Company calendar 13th September was in red. Checked with others and its a mis-print - so no Singapore holiday :o

Singapore is very safe - one of the safest cities in the world. Some half decent looking backpacker hotels in the Bugis area and around that I would use if I was coming for short break mid-week from outside the country.

Public transport is outstanding and geting around on the MRT and buses is very easy - taxi's are also quite cheap but can be a nightmare to get early morning and evenings.

There are agents but its easy to do it yourself. It would take you just as long to get to the agents office or you would pay for pickup and delivery. We use them at work but for convenience sake only - if you really want details PM me but I would say do it yourself.

For IT shopping I have used both Funan IT Mall and Sim Lim Square. At Sim Lim its been for a printer, HD etc and not a big ticket item. I prefer Funan for that but having said that theyr are still shark's there.

I just bought the new Vaio with the 11 inch screen and the deals were all the same except Harvey Norman (a chain) threw in lots of freebies I would not get at a smaller place - the Sony Shop was a rip off on extra memory.

Yep I also think Vaio is a rip off. I have a nice looking fs115s widescreen which ive had for about 2 yr now. Which ok im happy with, but if you get any probs the Vaio support is a nightmare. I think I paid over the odds for a brand name with terrible aftercare. Not keen on buying from Sony again tbh. Hoping to get some kind of pc that I can fit in my bag. Nice an lightweigh. but not too exp.

Anyway..back to visas.. i may pm you for the details Prakanong, thanks for that. Wonder if you (or anyone else) knows if any of the hotels provide it. When i was in Penang I just simply mentioned to the receptionist that i need an agent and she set it up for me. Was pretty simple. Otherwise, as you say, I may just sort it myself. I hope that all is cool with Sing for giving out TV's as im going for my 4th.

CHeers for info. :o

:o No. As others have mentioned you will have to get your passport in the morning on the first day and it won't be available for pickup until the 2nd day in the afternoon. You will need at least two days. Take an earlier flight if you can, turn your passport in the morning on the first day.

As others have said, this is unlikely to work. My advice would be to take the Tiger Airways evening flight from Phuket (arriving Singapore 00:55) so that you can be at the Thai Embassy first thing the following morning. Be aware that if you do this, your only transportation option from Changi Airport to town at that late hour is a taxi.

And there is a premium after 12 - 50% I think it might be - thats why its hard to find one after 10 - they are all hiding waiting for the fares to go up.

Having said that Singapore taxi's are not that expensive - even the limo is only 35 Dollars, I think, to most places and thats circa 770 THB.

I will be paying a lot more than that to get in from Swampy Poom on Friday as a limo is the only way to get a receipt and the hotel's service is 2400THB.

Plus the surcharge that is levied from the airport. It's about a S$25 taxi ride from the airport to town on the overnight.

Yeah - I think its 5 SGD airport surcharge - its about 23 SGD to my Condo before 12 so we are in the ballpark.

I think its 25 SGD if I get a limo from the office - cheaper than Thailand but not as far obviously.

The auditors have caught onto this in Thailand now and are asking why we pay 2500THB for a hotel limo in - my argument is no receipts given by meter taxi's in Thailand but they are saying it does not matter - yeah till the next auditor changes their mind!
