King Charles steps in as Andrew scandal explodes

King Charles has made an extraordinary public intervention in the scandal engulfing his brother Prince Andrew. In a rare and dramatic move, the monarch vowed last night to help police investigating fresh allegations. The statement marks one of the strongest royal responses yet to the growing controversy.

The King spoke of his “profound concern” over disturbing claims linked to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The intervention comes as Thames Valley Police confirmed they are assessing whether there are grounds to investigate a complaint against the former Duke of York. The complaint was submitted by anti-monarchy group Republic.

Republic reported Andrew for suspected misconduct in public office and breach of official secrets. The claims centre on emails suggesting Andrew passed on sensitive information to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a trade envoy. The force is now considering whether a formal investigation should be launched.

Police are also assessing fresh sexual assault allegations. These emerged in the latest tranche of millions of documents released by US investigators. The files contain claims that Andrew sexually assaulted a woman who was trafficked to the UK by Epstein.

The alleged assault is said to have taken place at Andrew’s Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor. Buckingham Palace is understood to be prepared to hand over documents if requested. These could include records of Andrew’s personal engagements, guests at royal residences, and correspondence sent from royal email addresses.

The King and Queen first made their position public in October last year. At that time, Charles stripped Andrew of all titles and honours. The move followed further distressing claims in a posthumous book by Virginia Giuffre, one of Andrew’s accusers.

In a statement issued last night, a Buckingham Palace spokesman underlined the King’s stance. He said Charles has made clear, in words and actions, his concern about allegations continuing to emerge. He added that while the specific claims are for Andrew to address, the Palace would support police if approached.

The spokesman also stressed that Their Majesties’ thoughts and sympathies remain with victims of abuse. The message signalled a clear shift in tone from past royal silence. It also underlined how seriously the Palace is treating the latest developments.

Andrew has always denied sexually abusing Virginia Giuffre. She has said she was 17 when she was trafficked by Epstein and his former partner Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew has consistently rejected her account.

Among the latest claims is an allegation involving a second woman in 2010. The files say she was sent by Epstein to Andrew’s Royal Lodge for a sexual encounter. The woman’s lawyer, Brad Edwards of Edwards Henderson, spoke publicly about the claim.

He said that after spending the night with Andrew, the woman was given a tour of Buckingham Palace and tea. “We’re talking about at least one woman who was sent by Jeffrey Epstein over to Prince Andrew,” he said. He added that she toured the palace after the alleged encounter.

Further allegations in files released on January 30 include claims involving Epstein’s Florida home. The documents allege that Andrew and Epstein asked an exotic dancer for a threesome. These claims add to a growing list of explosive accusations.

The scandal is now spilling into the King’s public appearances. Earlier today, Charles was heckled as he arrived at Clitheroe train station to begin a visit to Lancashire. Most of the crowd was supportive, waving Union flags and cheering.

But one man shouted: “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein?” The question was met with boos from others in the crowd. It came just days after Charles was heckled over the same issue during a visit to Essex last Thursday.

As police consider their next steps, the pressure on the Palace is intensifying. The King’s pledge to assist investigators signals a new phase. The fallout from Andrew’s links to Epstein is clearly far from over.

Key takeaways:

1. King Charles vows to support police in probes into Prince Andrew.

  1. New files revive explosive sexual assault and misconduct claims.

  2. The scandal now follows the King on public engagements.

He means' Just keep my name and the taxpayer's noses' out of it and we will toss in a ginger nut and a Mexican for distraction.

Why would the royal family be in possession of any 'official secrets'?

And where are the new files about Andrew?

Is it still accusations of him having sex with a 17yo?

Which is not a crime in the UK.

eg Representing the UK on foreign visits, which Andrew has been reported as doing on many occasions including as some kind of trade ambassador ...

The rats are coming out of the woodwork in a worldwide pre-emptive' it wasn't anything to do with me' as the perverts implode in sweat and pizza.

My guess is a whole load of cash is changing dirty hands buying up evidence on top of £12 million to make Virginia go away 🤔

Thames Valley Police (covering Windsor) confirmed on February 9, 2026, they are assessing new allegations that Andrew shared confidential UK trade reports from his 2010 role as Britain's special trade envoy with Epstein. This stems from emails in the DOJ-released files showing he forwarded sensitive documents (from trips to Southeast Asia) to Epstein after Epstein's 2008 conviction.

No charges have been filed yet, and Andrew denies wrongdoing, but the combination of police scrutiny, royal family distancing, and ongoing U.S. document fallout has put him in his most precarious position since the scandal began.

The Groom of The Stool no longer exists.

when Edward acceded to the throne as King Edward VII in 1901, he discontinued the office.

As Andrew has never been and will not ever be Monarch the situation will never arise.
