Please, A Need Some Urgent Help

Featured Replies

Hi everybody! I would really appreciate any help because I'm in serious trouble. I'm taking the TOEFL test this Saturday coming and I am in my last (hardest) week of preparation for it. I also work here, in Lopburi, so my time this last month has been reduced to work and study ONLY. I better go straight to the point:

Yesterday I was going to start a mock test (you buy them and use them in the same TOEFL site http://www.ets.org/) when the light went off for about 10 seconds. I restarted the computer but, since then, I have been unable to open the page where my tests are. I get the following message:

Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"

The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO?

cristina

I just accessed that site without problem.

I get usually get Network Error (tcp_error) messages when my conection is slow. Just keep trying and you should be able to access it.

Check if your LAN connection is still enabled, it sometimes happens that Windows XP disables the LAN connection after uncontrolled shutdown.

Second, and more reasonable, try to reload the website without using your browsers cache memory, you can do that with holding down the Ctrl key in MS Internet Explorer or Shift key in Firefox when you click on the reload icon in your browser.

There was a major internet outage yesterday for True and TOT and perhaps other providers and many sites outside Thailand could not be reached and timed out. Have you tried to access today?

You may also have a problem with a bad cookie or other corruption from the power failure. I would clear any cookies and see if that helps.
