How much do Americans spend on past & present wars?

Featured Replies

The Secretary of War is screwing the American people. Foreign countries own $8.5-19.4T. 25-31% of the total US public debt. China owns $680-760B. It would be fair to say that, by calling in this debt, China could bankrupt the United States, without bailouts from our "allies". Far chance, they're as much is debt as we are and the US is a high-risk investments. As anyone can see, tariffs are a hollow scam.

Fed spends $4T on social services, mostly healthcare.

OCO-infographic-post911.png

Veterans care: $2.2T

WWII: $5.74T, still servicing this debt in 2026

War on Korea: $476BM, still servicing this debt in 2026

War on Vietnam: $1.3T, still servicing this debt in 2026

Post-9/11 wars: $8T, still servicing this debt in 2026

Veterans care: $2.2-$2.5T. Yeah, right, <deleted> you for your service, homeless vets at intersection with a sign.

War on Iraq & Syria $1.79T

War on Afghanistan: $2.3T, $300M a day. US spent just half the UK contribution, about the same as Germany & Canada

The US has spent as much in interest as it did for the “credit card wars”, so called as there was no money in the Treasury to pay for them.

$21.7B in military aid to Israel since Oct 7, 2023

$31.35-$33.77B on wars worldwide since Oct 7

War on Yemen: $9.75-$12.07B

Pentagon contracts: $771B to just 5 companies

Every $1M of military spending services 13 jobs. Oboy...The US spends the most on its military, 40% of every other country combined.

Twice as much as China—350M compared to 1.4B population

Russia spend on 1/10th of US war budget

Let’s not forget “Homeland” Security which also falls under the military budget: $1.1T, not including state subsidies. (The only other countries to ever championing ‘homelands’ were Nazi propaganda and South African apartheid

Those numbers for both Iraq and Afghanistan are grossly underestimated, as Dick Cheney got a special dispensation from Congress to cover a lot of the expenses of those two campaigns completely off the books, which makes them hidden debt that has to be added to the total accumulated debt.

And now the moronic War president wants to invade Iran knowing that Iran is infinitely more powerful than Iraq or Afghanistan or Venezuela, and that this could be a 20-year war, costing 10 trillion dollars and resulting in thousands upon thousands of American casualties.

I have a suggestion, why doesn't he send his daughter and both of his sons to fight on the front lines in Iran. I realize all three of them would need to wear pampers, but at least it would be a nice symbol to the American people. Sincerity? Perhaps that is too much to ask of the circus clown.

The firepower the US has is far more than it was during the Iraq or Afghanistan conflicts. Most of this would likely be as the following link shows, and would end fairly soon. There wouldn't be many casualties on the US side, as most of it would be airfare, and with Israel fighting along side, Iran has little chance...............https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce3kenge1k9o

As usual you are overestimating America's power and capabilities and in this particular case you're underestimating the ability for Iran to disrupt life in America, to use their hackers ,to use their cyber experts, to rain missiles down upon Israel and US Air bases, and ships and cause credible havoc.

As you know I dislike Trump greatly, and the man is incredibly incompetent, but even scarier is how grossly dumb and incapable his Sec Def is, they are simply not prepared for something like this.

Yes, the feds spend 4T on social services every year. Which increases every year. Let's fix it at 4 trillion with no growth. 30 years x 4 = 120 trillion. Really, the number will be higher.

Let's compare this to the VA's current budget of 2.2 trillion over the next 30 years.

Americans lost control over their own government decades ago and are now fighting wars on behalf of Israel and the Jewish diaspora now.

Ron Paul was the last presidential runner to get it right. Send home all the troops, abandon all the foreign bases and don't look back.

And the rest? Suck it up. The debt ain't because of social services, it's about a military bloated with blood like a tick.

The only profiteers are the American, and Israeli, weapons companies. They slide their taxes, pay their execs handsomely and keep their shareholders happy with blood on their hands.

Yes, it is.

America has spend trillions for what result ? Vietnam ? Afghanistan ? Irak ? Libya ? ...

Except Vietnam, all the other cited countries are in a global mess of the american military heritage.

No to mention the mess America's politics has been causing to the world for the last say 50 years at least,.

No hard feeling please to my american friends, as most of you do agree...🙏

As usual? No, I see and hear what they have from those in the military. The US could wipe out any country in short order if they turned all of what they had against them. Trying not to kill civilians is what holds them back. Yes, they could fire at US bases but the US can also hit the weapons that fired upon them. They have capabilities we don't know about and Iran doesn't have the hackers you think they do, that could affect the US mainland. Israel involved also means they have a lot more firepower against them, along with Nato. Nato likely won't help Israel but they will help the US. They might hit a ship or two but the barrage back would light them up. It's not all Trump and you underestimate what the military can do. What the US had years before is just a tad upgraded now.
