To mark International Women’s Month, women in the Philippines will be able to enjoy free train and bus rides throughout March. The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange Inc. and the Philippine Coast Guard are collaborating to offer free travel between Cubao terminal and SM Mall of Asia every Tuesday and Thursday, from 5 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. This initiative emphasizes appreciation for women’s roles in society.

In addition to bus services, women can benefit from free rides on the Metro Rail Transit-3 on March 9, available from 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. The Light Rail Transit Authority also supports the celebration by granting free access to the LRT-2 on March 8 during the same morning and evening windows. These programs underscore governmental support for women and their contributions.

The Philippine Coast Guard and transit authorities highlight that these gestures are part of broader efforts to acknowledge women's integral role and provide support during International Women's Month. Experts view these initiatives as positive reinforcement for gender equality, fostering appreciation and visibility for women's daily contributions in various sectors.

Looking forward, transit authorities hope these initiatives will inspire ongoing gender-inclusive programs. By setting a precedent this March, organizers anticipate further collaborative and supportive measures for women in public services and other societal functions in the future, reported Philstar.
