Jai Dee
Thai cops nab Malaysian with fake credit cards Thai railway police arrested a 29-year-old Malaysian woman for allegedly smuggling in more than 100 fake credit cards in the southern city of Haadyai on Wednesday night. Haadyai railway police deputy chief Mahuntapol Srinot said the woman was found with the fake credit cards on the Butterworth-Bangkok express train. Mahuntapol said they made the arrest after being tipped off that a woman passenger would be carrying illegal material into the country from Malaysia. He said a police team led by Haadyai railway police chief Aukkapak Jitprayoon boarded the train when it stopped in Haadyai at about 6.45pm. “Upon checking her bag, we found a plastic bag which contained the fake credit cards allegedly issued by most of the commercial banks in Thailand,” he added. The team also found 5,000 Thai baht (RM500), which the suspect told them was the payment for delivering the credit cards to Bangkok. Several Malaysians have been arrested by Thai police this year for using fake credit cards to buy goods at popular shopping malls in the capital. Last year, a Malaysian was caught stealing credit card information from a local bank here. Source: Bernama - 24 August 2007
