Iran's Security Chief Urges Muslim Unity Against US-Israel in Open Let

Iran's Security Chief Urges Muslim Unity Against US-Israel in Open Letter

Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and a close aide to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued a strongly worded six-point open letter to Muslims worldwide and governments of Islamic countries. Released on March 16, 2026, amid the ongoing US-Iran war now in its third week, the message sharply criticizes Islamic nations for failing to support Iran against what it calls "deceptive American-Zionist aggression."

The letter begins "In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful" and accuses most Islamic governments of standing by while US and Israeli strikes killed senior Iranian leaders, commanders, and civilians—even during negotiations. Larijani highlights Iran's solitary resistance and invokes a saying attributed to the Prophet Muhammad: "If you do not respond to the cry of a Muslim, you are not a Muslim." He questions the silence of Muslim states and warns that some now view Iran as an enemy after it targeted US bases on their territory.

A central challenge in the appeal asks: "On one side of today's confrontation stand the United States and Israel; on the other side stand Muslim Iran and the forces of resistance. Which side are you on?" Larijani stresses that Iran seeks no domination over other Muslim nations and only their well-being, while urging unity of the ummah (Muslim community) as the best path to independence, progress, and security. He warns that accommodation with Washington and Tel Aviv offers no loyalty, positioning the conflict as a clear choice between resistance and external powers.

The letter was shared widely on social media, including by the Iranian embassy in India on X (formerly Twitter). It comes as Iran continues regional strikes and declares readiness to extend the conflict if needed, while Israel reports ongoing targeting inside Iran. European nations have also pushed back against proposals to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping lane.

This appeal reflects Iran's strategy to rally broader Islamic solidarity and pressure Gulf states and others hosting US military assets during escalating tensions.

Key Takeaways

  • Call for Solidarity: Larijani criticizes the lack of support from Islamic governments and invokes religious duty to aid fellow Muslims facing "American-Zionist" attacks.

  • Clear Choice Presented: The letter frames the war as US and Israel versus "Muslim Iran and the forces of resistance," directly asking nations "which side are you on?"

  • Unity Over Accommodation: It promotes Muslim ummah cohesion for long-term security while assuring no Iranian domination and warning against reliance on the US or Israel.

The six points:

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

  • To the Muslims of the world and the governments of Islamic countries:

    1. Iran was confronted with a deceptive aggression by the American–Zionist axis while negotiations were still underway.

      • The objective of this aggression was the disintegration of Iran.

      • They martyred the great and self-sacrificing Leader of the Islamic Revolution, as well as a number of ordinary citizens and military commanders.

      • Consequently, they were met with the national and Islamic resistance of the Iranian people.

    2. You are aware that—except for a few rare cases, and even then only at the political level—none of the Islamic governments came to the assistance of the Iranian nation.

      • Nevertheless, the Iranian people, with firm determination, suppressed the malicious enemy in such a way that today the enemy does not know how to escape this strategic impasse.

    3. Iran will continue along the path of resistance against the greater and lesser Satans (the United States and Israel).

      • However, is the conduct of Islamic governments not in contradiction with the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who stated: “If you do not respond to the cry of a Muslim, you are not a Muslim.”

      • What kind of Islam is this?

    4. Some countries have even gone further and declared that because Iran targeted American bases and the interests of the United States and Israel in those countries, Iran has therefore become their enemy.

      • Should Iran remain idle while attacks are launched against it from American bases located in your countries?

      • These are mere pretexts.

      • On one side of today’s confrontation stand the United States and Israel; on the other side stand Muslim Iran and the forces of resistance.

      • Which side are you on?

    5. Reflect on the future of the Islamic world.

      • You know well that the United States will show you no loyalty, and that Israel is your enemy.

      • Take a moment to think about yourselves and the future of the region.

      • Iran seeks your well-being and has no intention of dominating you.

    6. The unity of the Islamic Ummah, with all its strength, can ensure and guarantee security, progress, and independence for all nations.

Is muslim unity achieved by Iran bombarding muslim nations?

I doubt that the Sunnis are interested in the rantings of the Shiites.

...who hosted US military bases used to spring-boards to launch a war of aggression against Iran.

Context - you gotta keep it in context. First the bases were attacked, now hotel where US military and US intelligence assets are now hiding behind civilian infrastructure.
Iran didn't just wake up one day and start bombing their neighbors unprovoked.

Iran has not exactly been attacking US military bases. It's attacks have been indiscriminate.

You also conveniently ignore the fact, and it has been stated multiple times, that many of the victims did not allow their territory to be used for the US sorties.

What's your evidence to support the. missile attacks on Turkiye or Azerbaijan?

There is no evidence to support that the luxury hotels in the Palms of Dubai residential complex were used by the US military. They were however homes to a large number of people from Russia, EU and UK. Repeating false unsubstantiated claims circulated by Iran and Russia isn't a reliable source. Where is your evidence to support your claim that Burj Al Arab hotel was used for military or US intelligence purposes. it is a 5 star luxury hotel, not even close to a US military base.

Just wait till China or Russia officialy step in, and we'll be all good to WW3 and doomsday. Thank you Israel...

I think someone is indulging in conspiracy theories, or someone is just making stuff up. Someone on gets their news sources from one media source (Fox or CNN)?

"Iran is bombing schools!!!"
🤔 Oh wait a minute, that was the US.

"Iran is bombing hotels!"

In some cases, yeah, but you'll never get the reason from Fox, CNN or any other Western media source.

Keep the conspiracy themes cranked on to "11" on the Spinal Tap Propaganda dial. thumbsup
