I would not trust the encryption.

That ship has sailed - data is all already online.

I might be in North Korea, and not be able to use a computer for weeks.

Explains your power issues - a rather dumb response.

I like the convenience of being able to open my passport and see all my stamps, at anytime, even without resorting to an electronic device.

OAP Boomer response - you are on an electronic device now - its not that hard.

I assume you use google maps instead of a paper map when you need directions.

I assume you look up businesses on a search engine rather than the yellow-pages (business directory) equivalent...

No encryption will be safe, soon.

Again - records are all online anyway - the point is moot.

I also save my passports, and I would not be interested in saving a plastic card.

No one cares - thats just sentiment and irrelevant - I have all my old passports but could just as easily shred and bin them.

I used to go through a 48 page passport every 2 years - now I don't fill them.

My travel has not decreased - fewer countries are using so many stamps - that change is already occurring and its more convenient than having to replace passports frequently.

I've just carried out an extension of my visa (overseas country) - online it took 5mins.

No need for stamps in a passport - system is all digital and tied to and 'entry visa' which was also applied for online thats it.

I can log in and check the permission of stay any time I want.

I'm sure people would prefer that than having to attend Immigration and get visa stickers etc.

In summary - you have not offered any solid reasoning other than your passport has sentimental value.

  • Wrong, the UK passport and coat of arms represents centuries of history, something young countries like yours doesn’t have.

  • The last thing I would want, is the Crown's 'Code of Arms' on anything, as simply represent their elitist birthright oppression they've exercised for centuries over their subjects. Not much different

  • Totally agree. I've finally had to put that narcissistic, egotistical bore on ignore. I can't take anymore of his self absorbed drivel.

The “most beautiful” passport at any given time is the one that offers visa free access to the most number countries. This changes a bit from year to year, but right now the top five are Singapore, Japan, South Korea, France, and Germany. Unsurprisingly, the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland are not in the top five.

Yes.

Of course.

I thought you had realized, by now, that this Topic is about BEAUTY, Nostalgia, and sentimental value.

I still have all 4 of my old PP, as souvenirs, 2 almost full up. Current one expires 2032, I think, and only has Thai stamps in it. Haven't left TH since Aug 2013, and that was only to Laos 🙄

Same with previous PP, and just Laos & Myanmar stamps, other than Thai stamps. World traveler .... no more. As if 6+ hrs on a plane wouldn't be bad enough, they want to check in 3 hrs ahead of time. NO THANKS, ain't nothing worth wasting at least 12+ hours just to get to / from.

Last trip to USA was 2006 ?, and only for a long weekend, for the excursion rate, or it would have been a quick turn around cheesy

dont talk to stupid woke collage kids from the US. Did you ask if they were ashamed of being white too??

The kids in collages have been brainwashed to thinking they are bad because they are from the US and white and should be ashamed of themselves because the US has had salves in the past.

They are also being taught there is not such thing as two genders, you can be what you want to be.

Hey, the 1950,s called. They want their views back.

I suspect by your bad grammar and inability to spell “slaves”, college was probably beyond yourself but just FYI, there’s not too many 34 year olds still at college, woke or not.

And I think it’s particularly telling that you assumed that they were white. They weren’t. Both were black and both worked for the US government as liaisons between the Thai and US Army. Hardly a couple of brainwashed, woke college kids that your bias immediately assumed.

And finally, give me 2 “woke” college kids any day rather than an old, miserable white supremacist like yourself. People like you were rightly sidelined for much of the past 40 years but through Trump and his MAGA brigade, stupid is having a revival so you just hang in there champ and get it all out of your system now while you can as hopefully very soon we can get back to again treating you all as the joke you have always been.

Now, you are making perfect sense.

Anyone who would wish to suddenly leave Thailand, for whatever reason, or any reason, and hop a plane, to anywhere, must be a fool.

Why would anyone intentionally visit the airport, if not absolutely necessary, just to fly out of here, and incur undue stress, aboard airlines which are no-longer airlines, but more like...

Cattle Cars; tightly packed with sub-humans, fighting over limited space, and garbage meals, dressed-up in weird costumes, which only derelict homeless souls once wore, four decades ago?

They no longer have a cheese plate on DragonAir, from Hong Kong to Shanghai, even.....

Such a fall from the grace we elite passengers once expected, years gone by.

It's CRIMINAL, in fact.

No, I will not fly, these days.

The best passport in the world to have would be the Swiss passport. Not so much for it's design, like it or not ... more for the neutrality of that very rich country. The Swiss never meddle in others business and like it or not, Swiss nationals are usually accepted worldwide with no political rivalry. I would definately trade in my EU passport anytime for the Swiss one.

You don't seem to know, that the design is not only red with a white cross...

Got mine last year here in Thailand. In daylight - no big deal. some reliefs only?!

But under UV- light, stunning...

That, the Swizz One, is even more beautiful than the British One, IMHO.

Also, I love the look under a Black Light.

I could stare at the Black Light image for many hours, and never tire.

Sorry about the grammar issue — I didn’t realize this forum turned into red pens and report cards.

As for the rest, you made a whole pile of wrong assumptions in one post. I’m not a white supremacist, I’m not living in the 1950s, and I’m not some die-hard MAGA guy. I simply happen to agree with some policies like border security and tariffs, especially after dealing firsthand how uneven trade can be when American businesses deal with foreign tariffs, Fees and VAT.

My point was that too many Americans are encouraged to focus only on what is wrong with the U.S., to the point that some seem embarrassed to admit where they’re from. I think that mindset is unhealthy and is being pushed in collages. You can criticize your country without being ashamed of it.

You can disagree with me all day long, but jumping straight to “white supremacist” says more about your need for a villain than it does about me.

No need to, as I had good teachers in school. We learned the truth, not the BS.

Did the same with Vietnam, when the Geneva Accord had agreed & set up elections, knowing Ho Chi Minh would win, the decided the South would participate ...

I thought this was about passports, design etc.

Stupid me. I can also just stick with the politcal soapbox.

The REd UK passport was always a good show off.

Now we have the same colour as indian passports and it can utterly shameless.

The new UK passport feels (IMO) cheap and poor quality. I give it a 6 out of 10 compared to the red EU version.

But, literally, I just noticed that it has a rose, a thistle, a daffodil, and a shamrock embossed on the rear cover - so I will increase that to 7/10 for artistic impression.

Absolutely, it is about the relative beauty of passports, and which country has the most beautiful.

The headline is written in plain English.

Which country's passport is most beautiful, and why...

I did not know, for example, that the Swiss passport fluoresces so beautifully under "black light".

Do all passports do the same?

I have no black light in my house, at the moment.

Or, I would test this on the US passport.

Switzerland, by far.

Building schools, hospitals, railways…… those awful Brits

There was a minority of bad 'uns, but they split off in 1776.

The old British passport was the best - quite distinctive in appearance.

Now they all look the same.

Dying is the present participle of "to die," signifying the process of ceasing to live, ending, or failing. It describes the final stage of life, such as a "dying person," or something nearing extinction, like "dying traditions". Synonyms include moribund, expiring, passing away, perishing, and sinking
