Also - for 'domestic' check-in at the Airport - what documentation is accepted is carrier dependent - some accept Thai DL, some don't, some accept Pink ID, some don't - some will only accept a Passport - Mileage varies.

needs a little rephrasing:
some accept Thai DL, some don't,
some accept Pink ID, some don't
ALL will accept a Passport, and some demand it.

So out of the 3 forms of ID
the passport would be the most convenient ID to have with you

It depends on how easy it is to obtain. First you need the yellow house book and the pink card should be easily obtained afterwards. The ease of obtaining the yellow house book will depend on your l

I have one. It is handy, especially in conjunction with a yellow family book. You can use it as ID in some cases in Thailand. I think in hospitals, clinics etc. The number on it can be used as a Tha

For most cases a passport is best.

But as I noted in my post previously, there are cases where a pink ID can serve as a COR and eliminate the need to go to immigration to get a COR. For some immigration ( formerly Phuket, albeit not so much now) that wait for a COR at immigration could be long and inconvenient. There are cases where there is no need for a COR after one has the pink ID.

And, I noted a couple of obscure cases, involving large amounts of money, where the pink ID number solved a financial issue where a passport alone was totally inadequate.

As the saying goes: YMMV.

I think it useful to have a thread notong where the few cases where a pink ID can be helpful ( and a passport alone inadequate ) .

When I renewed my car and bike licence produced my pink card and yellow book and licence has the ID number of pink card instead of my passport number. And use to open bank accounts, hospital 30 baht fee like Thais not faring pricing, some say it's useless but up to you.

why not close the thread?
we have concluded the pink card is not worth the hassle to obtain for the vast majority of people

Why not keep the thread open, so the minority who have the card, can share their experiences where it was useful so to help each other.

Why let those who disbelieve the utility try to deny such information to those who have the card?

why?
those that have the card, use it and their experiences will be the same
for the many of us that see no value in having one, ( including me) our experiences will also be the same

i must add that its makes not having to get a cor convient........

yea once every 5-6 years to renew a licnse
once in a blue moon when u buy a car or bike
once in ur time here when you open a bank account
