jomtien immigration question

my last extension 7 months ago they arranged for an IO to visit my condo, no big deal, also a DL has also been enough as proof of residency address, why do I need a rental agreement.....

I asked earlier "what don't you understand"

You stated that you knew all.

What you need for immigration is what they ask for.

That can change at any time.

For many years CW did not require me to provide a TM30 when doing extension.

Then they did.

For many years they accepted my bank book photocopies + bb.

Then Bang they want 12 month bank statement.

Guess what... every extension I now supply a TM30 + 12 Month bank statement.

Suggest you obtain a lease even if it's torn up after you have your extension.

I was in Jomtien Immigration this afternoon. A chap ahead of me was asked for copies of either his lease or rental agreement, which he did not have. His extension was not approved and he was sent away

I recently did my extension at Jomtien Immigration. I have always submitted a lease or rental agreement copy, and the officers always look through it. I'd say it is a requirement.

The officer asked me for a copy of the house book and house owner ID. I was confused because this has never been required, and I have a current TM30 stapled into my passport. I asked the officer, "So, the TM30 isn't enough?" He said, "No, not enough." I asked him if this is a new requirement and he said, "Yes".

So there you have it. Fortunately, I had a copy of the owner's house book and ID with me, so it was no trouble. But it was dumb. They already issued a TM30 based on exactly those documents. Another unnecessary complexity added, and more wasting of paper. YMMV depending on your officer. Not sure about that, but I recommend going prepared.

I can also have an opinion about what I think of these requirements in this discussion, there is nothing I don't understand

thanks for that, it is becoming clearer now that this is a change from 7 months ago

within an hour OMG if the line is long that makes it vitually impossible to do WT hell

thanks for sharing very infomative

Clarification, since I get there at 7am in the morning, as noted updating the book within 24 hours never a problem in my case 4:30pm never has been the problem. When he said your book has to be updated not 19th butj 20th, the day I'm doing extension.

That being said prior to getting to immigration stop by a branch uses hine update passbook when you get to immigration make a copy of updated page.

What I meant was I left immigration and return within an hour with the update.

Did mine at Jomtien on Thursday, supplying the items below, variously requested over the last 9 years:

Updated bank book, statement with all transactions from last 12 months plus a letter from the bank.

Completed TM7 c/w passport photo.

Copies of bank book and passport pages.

1900 Baht fee.

House book and title deeds (first requested last year).

Copy of condo rental agreement.

Landlord's ID card and phone number

ok

thankyou for your contribution

brandon you very clearly know were its at.........not

Wow, amazing that 2 people now have indicated they were required to provide exactly what I said in my reply. And that it started last year, when I said many offices started requiring it in the last 1-2 years. Almost like I know what I'm talking about.

very good information thanks for sharing, i hope other people can gain something useful from this tread - thanks to all who have contributed so far and thanks for "understanding" the more we share the more we understand thanks

I just finished reading through this thread and it seems like the extra documents are asked in many cases regardless what the requirements have been in the past. Lately the requirements have got more strict for many things, such as bank accounts, visas etc.

And it might make sense to anticipate requirements to remain very strict for now. I would conclude this as a combined effort from the government to map out dodgy criminal elements in the country. For a while it is inconvenient for everybody but could be positive on the long run. And hopefully the rules can be more clear and relaxed in the future, maybe even standardized.

Sadly will never be standardized rules.

Many immigration offices play with their own deck.
