No, you need to go back to maths class. Currently about £1.50 a litre in the UK, which is around £8 a gallon, about 330 baht.

As a percentage increase in price, though, Thailand is higher,

In fact they sell fuel n litres in UK. Diesel is £1.80 + per litre. Thailand just over ,£1. so no need to calculate in gallons

The thais won't forget who is doing this to them. The anti America sentiment is growing. What an idiots for voting their pedo carrot man. Boot the Yanks out of Thailand.

During my massage today, the Thai woman had the TV on, and was commenting to me how Trump had made her gasoline more expensive.

When it's getting down to that socio-economic level, Americans better watch their backs.

3.785 litres = 1 gallon. approx £6 per gallon for unleaded. Diesel over £1.80 a litre.

this could have a positive impact on the pollution.

How much diesel could we get if we refined Trump, the culprit?

You would only get gas, but not the kind that served any useful purpose.

I don't disagree that is one factor. However, it is also a useful diversion from Epstein.

So an 'average' petrol engined car owner rushes to put say 40-50 litres in the tank, saving a whopping 50-60 baht or so.

Said owner maybe had a 10-20 km round trip to get to the filling station, where he/she sat in the car in a queue with engine idling to keep the a/c on - this all using a litre or two of petrol at c. 40 baht a litre ...

Very logical summary of irrational events. Let's be realistic when people, especially those lacking education, panic all hell breaks lose. Sad but that's the planet we currently live on.

Maybe the increase in the fuel price will encourage some people to use a baht bus instead a car, thus reducing traffic congestion.

Maybe the fuel price increase will encourage people to slow down. 60 km/hr is the sweet spot in terms of fuel economy for small 4-cylinder cars.

Then again, perhaps not. This is Thailand, where driving like a maniac is the norm.

With Today's Price Hike I Make that "Almost " 201 Baht A GALLON Here....I Think that's MORE Expensive than The U.K. If my calculations are correct....

In the UK now petrol is around £1.60 a litre near where I used to live rising to over $£1.90 a litre on the motorway - or about 70 baht a litre - I think!

The government of Thailand as with many similar national moderate/small economies has little if any control over international oil prices and influence over oil price spikes.

Thailand has been able to access with a single tanker for Iranian oil through the Hormuz Strait with Iran's permission without fee.

Thailand might be viewed by Iran as a neutral political government (regardless of what political party controls the government) not aligned with the US and Israel attacks on Iran, also having one of the few North Korean embassies in the world and supporting a non-Christian state religion (Theravada Buddhism).

Posts with derogatory nicknames, intentional misspellings, or personal remarks will be removed. Spell names correctly for all sides of the debate.

Allegedly diesel will rise another Bt. 3.50 tomorrow.

We all need to be concerned about how this affects pattaya h**kers. Beach road will be filled with pedestrians walking to their locations. Remember the pavement there is reserved for h**kers and sex tourists!

Yeah, that will help the already logged jammed roads as those who use the busses will have to use cars or bikes.

It would appear that Don the Destroyer is trying to drive oil prices even higher. Deliberate economic sabotage of the world economy is the only explanation that makes sense. Being the simpleton that he is, it's very likely that the Deep State is just manipulating him like a puppet, and their agenda seems to be crashing the world economy.

Trump delivered an address Wednesday night, providing updates on the Middle East conflict. Though he said that the U.S. is “getting very close” to ending the Iran war, Trump added that the nation would “hit” Tehran “extremely hard.”

“Over the next two to three weeks, we’re going to bring them back to the stone ages where they belong,” the president said.

His comments led to a surge in oil prices. West Texas Intermediate crude futures were last up 11% at above $111 per barrel, while Brent crude futures advanced 7% to above $108 a barrel.

So do the Persian people deserve to be living in the Stone Age? You could almost understand it if the US military was capable of being precise enough to focus on the IRGC forces, but they cannot, so they are raining terror upon the civilian population, and committing more war crimes each day, while decimating the world's economy.

About time the US changed to litres, there are just a few countries using gallons, the US and a few third world countries.

In the UK the pumps and prices are in litres but most people still use the word gallon, "what does it do to the gallon" ? "just nippin out for a couple of gallon of juice" "how many gallons does the tank hold" ?

I suppose it will be different for younger generations and the term will eventually disappear but its still going strong, just like the "pint"

You are both right, but you are more wrong. 😊

It's 3.785 litres to a US liquid gallon. But 4.54609 litres to an Imperial gallon 😊 Since you are quoting in British Pounds, you should use the Imperial measure 😊

Yes I was wrong. I ve got 2 phones, one I got in the UK and the other in Thailand. The converters on both give the US gallon to litre conversion. One US gallon = 0.83267 Imperial gallons. Oops.

Residents in Pattaya rushed to fuel stations late on 1 April after authorities confirmed a sharp increase in fuel prices, leading to long queues and temporary shortages across the city.

The price adjustments were approved by the Oil Fuel Fund Committee (OFC), with the largest increases affecting diesel fuels. The new rates came into effect at 05:00 on 2 April.

Sharp rise in fuel prices

Under the changes, diesel and Super Power Diesel prices rose by 3.50 baht per litre, while gasoline and gasohol increased by 1.20 baht per litre.

The announcement triggered a surge in demand as motorists sought to fill their tanks before the higher prices took effect.

Fuel stations across Pattaya became crowded within hours, with lines forming from around 20:00 and continuing late into the night.

Stations overwhelmed by demand

Reports from local media described queues stretching for long distances, with some spilling onto Sukhumvit Road.

Cars, motorcycles, buses and vans lined up at stations, while some operators arrived with containers to store fuel for immediate use.

Several stations temporarily ran out of fuel and were forced to close as demand exceeded supply.

Some residents said they left their homes late at night, including in sleepwear, to secure fuel before the price increase came into force.

Impact on transport and businesses

The rise in diesel prices has raised concerns among drivers and small business operators, particularly those in the transport and tourism sectors.

Boat operators and fishing businesses were among those queuing with containers, saying they needed fuel for daily operations rather than stockpiling.

Public transport workers also warned that rising costs could affect their livelihoods.

A local songthaew driver, Banchong Bun Sai, said higher fuel prices were making it increasingly difficult for drivers to earn a living.

He said some drivers who rent vehicles had already stopped working because they could no longer cover both rental and fuel costs.

Growing economic pressure

Drivers and business owners expressed concern that continued increases could place further strain on already tight budgets.

Diesel prices are expected to rise to more than 44 baht per litre following the latest adjustment, adding to operating costs for transport services.

Many said the increase could have wider effects on the local economy, particularly in a city heavily dependent on tourism and transport services.

Some residents called for government action to address rising fuel costs and support those most affected.
