A crackdown on prostitution in Pattaya resulted in the arrest of 16 foreign women during a nighttime operation along Pattaya Beach and nearby roads. Conducted by immigration officers, social development officials, tourist police, and volunteers, the operation targeted individuals suspected of soliciting in public areas.

Among those arrested, 12 women faced charges of public solicitation. This group included one woman from Kyrgyzstan, five from Uzbekistan, and six from Uganda. They were fined by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, while immigration officers initiated proceedings to revoke their visas and process deportation.

Additionally, another Ugandan woman was arrested for both solicitation and overstaying her visa by 108 days. She was taken to Pattaya City Police Station for further legal action. Three more Ugandan women were detained on related charges, with immigration authorities working on deportation procedures.

The crackdown aligns with a previous operation in Bangkok, where 16 foreign women were arrested after social media complaints about soliciting on Sukhumvit Soi 4. Arrests included nationals from Tanzania, Kenya, and Vietnam, charged under Thai law Section 5 of the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act 1996.

Got some Déjà vu going on here, 16 is a common number.

I have been told that there are no Thai prostitutes in Pattaya ,

it seems to be so ...or they are getting rid of competition for

the Thai girls

I have no idea who told you that, as it is obviously untrue!

Yes, they're getting rid of foreigners soliciting as they can be deported. Thai girls doing the same are frequently taken in by the police, but as it's a minor offence, they are just fined (minimally) and let go, inevitably to return to their patch!

Work exclusive to Thai`s only..........

This is absolutely fake news as there's no prostitution in Pattaya. That's good to know as I've been married to one for the past 25 years.

Yes. No work permits available.

Commercial sex has been Pattaya's biggest drawing card from the get-go.

It's isn't called "Sleaze-by-the=Sea" for nothing.

I havent had an Uzbek in a while, its a bummer they cart them away. You used to be able to get them in Mixx. Ill try in Tashkent again.

Well its a good thing none of the ladies were thai. Can't arrest thai ones if there aren't any.

And their customers, exclusively non-Thai....

A Poon-tang Paradise.

It's all in the luck of the draw.

I'll see your Uzbek and raise you two Ugandans...

Thai 'ladies' soliciting for sex on Beach Road are regularly arrested. However, as it's a very minor offence, they are just fined a minimal amount and released. Foreigners doing the same thing can be deported for working illegally.

Yes, I would imagine its quite difficult to get a work permit for 'soliciting'?

Competition will not be tolerated

Shocking 😵

"Sleaze-by-the=Sea"

Certainly wasn't that way in the 1970s. Pattaya was a sleepy fishing village with 2 hotels (Pattaya Palace & The Nipa lodge and an R & R hotel for GI's on leave from the Vietnam War. I believe there were a few restaurants and bars as well. The beach and water was clean and the small offshore island of Koh Larn was a very small village where the people would cook the fish you caught on the boat ride to the island. Pattaya was a really lovely place at that time.

That is absolutely fake also, no official has ever been quoted as stating that "there's no prostitution in Pattaya".

Thai working girls soliciting are frequently apprehended also.

Must be pretty desperate in the countries they come from. Or trafficked?

Not correct. I am not IT savvy enough to find them but over the years there have been several media reports after Thai govt and police personnel have done photo-op walks. They were quoted as saying no prostitution was found.

Even Blind Freddy could count 100+ girls, and LB on Beach Roadbon any evening.

Isn't that good that there weren't any Thai working girls out there .they must have got tipped off and payed there Fee.

That explain my no show?🤣

Yes, there is a rule that you can only obtain a work permit if the job in question is one that cannot be done by the local workforce.

Not only is there no prostitution in Pattaya, there is no prostitution anywhere in Thailand, and that's official.

So in other words, a normal day in Pattaya.

And then have to find a customer to pay the fine 😉
