Police in Pattaya have questioned four individuals after a group of Thai men assaulted a foreign tourist in Soi 6, South Pattaya, in the early hours of 13 April 2026. Two drivers have been formally warned, while officers are continuing efforts to locate the injured tourist for further questioning.

The incident came to light after a video circulated widely on social media, showing a group of men, believed to be motorcycle taxi drivers, attacking a foreign man outside a venue in the area. The altercation reportedly occurred at around 01:30 on Soi 6.

According to Pol. Lt. Col. Arut Saphanon, Deputy Inspector of Investigation at Pattaya City Police Station, investigators and traffic police were deployed to identify and locate those involved. Four individuals were brought in for questioning, including two motorcycle taxi drivers and two entertainment venue employees.

Initial investigations indicate that the foreign tourist had first assaulted a Thai man outside the premises. Nearby motorcycle taxi drivers intervened in an attempt to stop the confrontation, but the situation escalated into a physical altercation. The tourist allegedly punched one of the drivers in the head, prompting a retaliatory attack involving kicks and further violence.

Following the incident, both parties dispersed from the scene. Police have recorded statements and personal details from those involved as evidence. The two motorcycle taxi drivers have received formal warnings and have been placed on police monitoring.

Authorities are now working to trace the injured tourist in order to obtain a full account of events and determine any further legal action. Investigators are also continuing to gather evidence to ensure appropriate charges are brought against those found to have broken the law.

The case has drawn attention due to the viral nature of the footage and concerns over public safety in a busy nightlife area during the Songkran holiday period. Police have emphasised that all parties involved will be treated fairly under the law as the investigation progresses.

If that is true, there is whole different story now!

But why he attack the Thai man?

Why?

In the West, many young Farang grow up thinking that Thailand is a place where they can come to learn how to fight.

One can even obtain a visa in order to learn how to punch other people, and kick them.

This is why Thailand attracts so many Fighting Farang.

They are the same as fighting roosters, just young cocks who want only to fight.

The reason he attacked a Thai man is because he was looking for fighting practice, or a sparring partner.

Many of these young Farang cocks need no excuse other than their need to fight.

They probably were born to fight.

And, they think everyone in Thailand respects boxers who punch people, too.

Kicking and Punching is just an integral and fundamental part of their lifestyle.

Once again, the usual. Bystanders had to intervene to stop the fight, rather than police officers--who should have been on patrol.

How can police officers be on patrol everywhere that an unexpected fight is going to take place?

Soi 6 is one block long, for heaven's sake. Not that hard to patrol. Nobody is saying they should be everywhere but they should be in targeted areas with large numbers of tourists where a police presence is needed.

Police officers can be everywhere, then, can they? They don't have to be called to the scene of incidents like in every other country?

Perhaps they were in one of the many other areas with a large number of tourists, why should they specifically be in Soi 6?

Other than when there is a raid I have never seen a police officer on Soi 6.

It's almost like they avoid the place.

I am sure they send somebody, certainly not a uniformed officer, on "collection day".

You are 100% correct. They avoid it because they are paid to do so. 🤷🏼

I think that eventually there will be a police point set up, probably at Beach Road and Soi 6. It will be paid for by the bars and staff will be told to let the police know. The problem, though, with this is that by the time you tell the cop and he gets there, the farang or trouble maker will be long gone.

Soi 6 late at night. Whats unexpected about a fight?

Hahahaha. “Formally warned”.

I bet they will mind their p’s and q’s now.

Already answered by my previous post: 'they should be in targeted areas with large numbers of tourists where a police presence is needed.' I would question that there are 'many other areas with a large number of tourists' partying and drinking at 1:30 in the morning. It's not rocket science. Since, as I said before, the police can't be everywhere, you target the areas and trouble spots where incidents are occurring the most.

Even casual readers of AN would likely be able to tell you that Walking Street, parts of Beach Road, Soi 6, parts of Soi Buakhao, and some other areas with businesses open at 1:30 in the morning and large numbers of drinking and partying visitors would be places to start.

I agree- having police everywhere is not possible - but in areas where it is known a lot of mainly younger foreigners get drunk would make sense

Perhaps there are more than 10 policemen in Pattaya? And there only have to be 1 in an area as small as soi 6.

Maybe 3-4 in Walking street. same in Soi Buakhow

Great idea, as an example with all the side soi's off the entertainment areas which ones would you have them patrolling?

There's, i a 10sq km area with 3000bars, as an example.

The Top dog said any persons involved will be treat fairly if thats the case why were these Taxi thugs faces faded out. To protect them ?

So the Thai Police gave them a strict warning TIT

For the farang tourist:

FAFO.

What utter dribble. I now live back in the uk and it definatly isn't the same place as it was in the 1970's where a good fight at the end of a night was very common. Now your more likely to see young men drinking their soy milk with C cup man boob's reading poetry than fighting.
