Featured Replies

A white BMW 5 Series 520D driver, reversed into pedestrians and tourists outside a massage shop, on 22 April 2026, near the Market Made in Thailand area on Pattaya Second Road, injuring five foreign nationals. Emergency services from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation responded alongside officers from Pattaya City Police Station after reports of multiple casualties. Victims included a 45-year-old US man, a 56-year-old Australian man and his 2-year-old son, plus two Indian men. All five were taken to hospital for urgent medical treatment.

CCTV footage from the scene showed the vehicle stationary after an earlier minor collision with a motorcycle around 3-4 metres from the later impact site. While waiting for insurance representatives, the driver reversed the car to the roadside. She then entered the vehicle to retrieve her driving licence, leaving the driver’s door open. The driver said she was unsure whether the gear had been left in reverse, but confirmed the handbrake had been engaged. Moments later, the vehicle suddenly moved backwards, striking pedestrians walking past and damaging a luggage shop and its goods displayed at the front.

Police reviewing CCTV confirmed the car moved backwards shortly after the driver sat inside. The driver, a 57-year-old Thai female business operator identified only as “Ms A”, told officers the crash was accidental and that she had no intention of harming anyone. She stated she would take full responsibility and cover all costs related to the injured parties. Investigators have gathered CCTV evidence and witness statements as part of ongoing inquiries.

Daily News reported that authorities said further checks will determine what charges will be filed after mechanical inspection of the vehicle and additional questioning. The injured tourists remain under close medical supervision at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya and Pattaya Memorial Hospital, where doctors continue to monitor their conditions.

Concerning female drivers, I have always maintained that The Stones got it right.

Some Girls, they just can't drive.

Hope the kid in the pram was OK!

Carefully examining the video:

a. His father saved his life, in the nick of time.

b. His father got hit in the head, obviously.

c. TRULY MIRACULOUS that the kid in the pram escaped alive.

SOME GIRLS just should not drive BMWs.....

Too much money.

Not enough sense.

Women are REALLY not very mechanically inclined, you know.

  1. Women are not the equal of men.

  2. Men are not the equal of women.

Women are better at child bearing, for example.

Here is a woman that really know how to get the most out of her insurance. 😂

Hopefully all the victims will recover.

Ok, so you never read about any men driving BMWs that crashes into things. I think it should be some people should not drive at all. Too much money and to little respect for others.

Just your average BMW driver in TH

So after reversing back to the kerb she exited the car after applying the handbrake, but carelessly left it in Reverse. There would have been a warning on the dashboard and maybe a chime, but seems she didn’t observe.

Then reentered the vehicle, maybe stretching to get her license from wherever and accidentally pressed the accelerator, maybe quite a way.

No way would the handbrake hold against the engine, especially as it’s a diesel.

The previous encounter probably on her mind contributed to the mishap ….very unfortunate for all involved.

A lesson for all who drive automatics …..especially for those with gear selector on the steering wheel column …..

Women are terrible drivers and hopeless at giving directions and following directions when driving. For example I use google maps sometimes and the women who works there always takes me the longest way or around in circles and I end up more lost than I was when I started. In fact women don't even make very good backseat drivers either.

Take another look at the video.

Note the driver had the door open a little bit and was looking to see where she was going.

Couldn’t see clearly on my phone …maybe her her hand pressed the GO pedal then.

She was going at some speed to mount the kerb so easy; the accelerator pedal must have been in "pedal to the metal" mode. Let's hope she's grounded & any brown envelopes stuffed up her rear.

Put in reverse, get in the phone then forget it’s in reverse and push the accelerator. Is that the way “the accident” happened ? 🤔🙄

Such ‘heads on this forum

This shows once again: German cars are life-threatening and should be banned!

I’m insulted by that last comment, my wife is an exceptionally good backseat driver, developed and perfected over many years.

Yes, has to be.

No one backs up that fast.

The cars computer stores all that information. They can pull the data and know exactly what happened reviewing the Event Data Recorder (EDR)

Hopefully everyone makes a full and speedy recovery.

I don't know what happened but one possibility is what happens in South Florida every week. Someone accidentally presses the accelerator when intending to press the brake.

100% correct!

Protect pedestrians, ban automatics.

Good that she's accepted responsibility and will do the right thing. I'm sure the police will help with this and in return get their tea fund topped up a bit (in this case I've no big issue with that).

And please, please... revoke this woman's driver's license for life.🙏🙏🙏

Just another day in Pattaya, something bizarre happens daily

It looks serious. I hope the 2 indian men are ok?

christ, went over and dragged one guy for at least 20 meters and the start of the vid

Every automatic i have ever driven for the past 40 years has a position on the gear selector, 'P' for park, easy to find.

I find this video of the supposed Indian men being hit on the sidewalk very suspicious. The video could have been altered using Ai. I have never seen Indian men walking any other place then down the middle of the street.

What an exemplary display of conduct from this individual. Exiting the massage shop in a state of agitation, still clutching a towel in one hand, he promptly begins recording the situation with his smartphone in the other, prioritizing documentation over offering assistance to the injured. Such behavior exemplifies the concerning indifference of onlookers.

Screenshot (83).png

The Aussie and Yank were bycatch. She was going for the Indians. That'll teach them for walking on the sidewalk instead of the road!
