Malaysia eVisa Non-O Retirement

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm a 50+ years old EU citizen currently staying in Penang and I need to get a retirement non-O here in Malaysia. I'd love to hear about other people's recent experiences of doing that.

I've checked the Penang consulate's Visa "menu" here and it seems the retirement non-O isn't listed, so maybe they don't issue this type of Visa?

KL have it, here, and they list "Having no criminal record against the security of Thailand and the applicant’s country of origin" as a requirement. Do they actually require a police certificate from one's home country? As I would have to fly back to Europe and back to get that and that's not going to happen for a while.

Another requirement: "Not having prohibited diseases indicated in the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535 (1992) e.g. Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Drug Addiction, Elephantiasis and Third-stage of Syphilis." Is a medical certificate required or would that just be a personal declaration?

For proof of stay in Malaysia "Document indicating current location", is an entry stamp enough or do they want hotel receipts or more?

The proof of finance is 800K THB equivalent balance and 3 months statements. I gather from the Vientiane eVisa Non-O Retirement thread that the funds shouldn't need to be seasoned for the 3 months, but I'd like to have a confirmation specific for consulates in Malaysia if possible.

I'd like to confirm everything beforehand to avoid being rejected for lack of documents and wasting money and time, though I hope they would at least give people a chance to integrate the documentation before rejecting.

Thank you for any help.

Everyone applies thru the eVisa website for all visas to thailand now

Meaning you get it right when you apply, OR they email and ask for additional documentation OR they just reject the application outright and you lose the visa fee

I wouldn't waste the time looking at the Penang thai consulate website as that link you provided hasn't been updated for THREE years (since before they went to the eVisa online system)

The requirements you're looking at are for the OA visa and you don't want that

these are the requirements for the 90 day Non-O on the eVisa website

You upload your visa/entry stamp to show you're in Malaysia you can also upload your hotel confirmation as well

At most consulates you submit 3 months of bank statements but the funds only need to be in the account on the date you apply (although I am not sure about Malaysia)

Not that many people use the three thai consulates in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Penang, or Kota Bharu) because since they went to the eVisa online system they really got SLOW at processing visa applications. Some people reported they were there more than a week waiting for approval..

Best of luck with it, report back on how it goes for you if you apply thru them

Thank you for your reply and the info @Tod Daniels

Next week I'll try to call the consulates to double check if they have any other requirements (if can I get through), or try to visit the Penang consulate (if it's still possible to speak with the personnel now that everything is done with eVisas). I'll report back if I get any useful info.

Admire your tenacity however thinking will be dead end.

Hope I'm wrong.

Sorry wrong thread!

I would like to ask another question, please.

How long is the processing time for a Non-O (single entry based on marry) in Vientanne? Again only 2 or 3 days or more like 2 to 3 weeks (which the embassy in Berlin needs usually)?

Thanks for a hint

Good point, but I want to avoid getting a straight reject. There are things I'm not sure about, like do they need the bank statements translated into English and the translation legalized? BTW, how do they go about that at other consulates in SEA?

JIC, if anyone reading this has any experience with non-O eVisas in Malaysia please let me know.
