Sure, you can do that, but you'll end up with slow Internet vs fiber optic broadband.

I have had 1Gb/s with 3BB for years paying Bht 749. Very few outages/stops. They are now part of AIS.

Though I guess it's not possible in alot of condo buildings if you have access to true fiber it is amazing, and very well priced.

I live in Wongamat & have had a lot of problems with 3BB this year so I can fully understand why you're looking to move, I did briefly look into it & AIS came up as an option but they're the same company nowadays so if the problem was the supply to the building (as mine was) then I doubt switching would help.

If you live in a Condo then best bet would be to ask your Condo staff which providers offer services there.

If you live in a condo then the choices are often limited to perhaps only one company as the condo management have made a deal with that company..if so the only other alternative is internet via a mobile phone signal, you can get cellular router that will take a sim card and behave very much like a normal ISP provided router although the speed and cost of the cellular package is often less value than a traditional ISP would provide.

I would always prefer to have a fibre optic to the house/condo/room option over a cellular option.

Even if you live in a Condo you can buy your own SIM card router and bypass the Condo systems.

There's a good reason why the choices are limited - the building needs to be wired with one provider or another, which is a big job. My only choice where I currently reside is True.

In Thailand all depends of the area and not that much the provider. Best to ask neighbours who are happy with their service because you can have a provider with bad reputation all over but in a specific area they would be perfect. Main point to look also is if the customer service of the provider chosed, has staff who can speak decent english.

I am North of Pattaya and have had a long contract with True for Internet and TV via Fibre Optic. Usual recommendation is to find out what neighbors are happy with.

I asked about True in my condo but they wouldn't do above a certain level, 3rd floor i think. What's wrong with 3BB, i have had it for years and it has been excellent.

In most condos and housing developments, you don't have a choice and take what you can get. I'm with True, and find it reliable with good customer service, on the east side of Naklua. Even if it wasn't good, I have no other choice for home broadband. I used CAT (now NT) for over 10 years, and that was really good, but it went downhill when they became NT.

3BB has been the very best for quite some time.

However with the buyout by that company AIS, I had expected 3BB service and reliability to PLUMMET.

And, this is only logical.

Just how much the service has plummeted, this is difficult to guage or assess.

It was a sad thing when 3BB was taken over.

And then DTAC was taken over, in the same way, by a different company.

Soon there will be no choice of providers.

3BB customer service operators, who usually know nothing, will tell you that there has been no change in service.

What a pity.

Yes, You are correct.

That guy you replied to seems to have no clue about almost anything.

There is no way you will get repliable 1GBPS up and down using a router attached to a SIM card so that you can connect your computers, and all other devices, in Thailand, as of now and for years to come, or in most places.

The 3BB service I have is extremely stable.

However, if the infrastructure outside one's site is poorly maintained, then there will be outages for video conferencing, and outages in general.

Things like line quality and switches outside for the last mile can be a problem that won't be fixed until the companies that use the last mile decide to replace the old equipment.

You talk absolute gobbledegook. Why is it logical for service and reliability to plummet, which as you say cannot be gauged (not guage) or assessed accurately. So please keep your thoughts to yourself. Ta!

Be careful with AIS. I'm currently in an odd situation I haven't yet resolved.

When I first occupied my rented Jomtien Condo 4 years ago, TOT pre-paid was the only option in my building. I was satisfied with their 500mg service. When my contract expired this Feb., they made no attempt to contact me for renewal, many TOT CS lines were shut down. I was tired of having to pre-pay for a year in person at Pattaya Klang TOT.

Both AIS & 3BB are available in my building now. I am AIS Gold post-pay for my mobile service so thinking I might get a better deal, I called them, went through a verification process and ordered service: 500mb, B700/m for 2 years promotion.

What showed-up on installation day was a ragtag crew, obviously contract and not AIS. They told me I would have to pay an additional B2000 for fiber wiring from the building junction box. I had been told no extra installation charges so I called AIS. AIS CS didn't have a clue about the installation and after 3 hours and several call backs, I get a call from 3BB CS saying it's their crew, that my account has been passed to 3BB and that, yes, I did have to pay B2000 for the fiber run to my condo. I was leaving on a trip the next day so didn't have time to postpone so I paid and had them do an install.

When they finished, no official receipt or contract copy. Just a handwritten slip I had paid the B2000.

Now 3 months in, my service is spotty, frequent buffering which was rare using TOT I've tried multiple speed test through multiple providers and never get more than 350 down, usually in the 270/80s range. I received an ebill on my phone from 3bb for two months service: B600/m, saying I was one month overdue after never billing me in the first place. Odd situation.

I've called AIS CS and get stonewalled...not on the computer. 3BB says they'll call back, then dont. To be continued.

If you do not know the answer to this simple question, then I will not spend the time to inform you.

We also know that you are not hear to learn.

You are here to argue and debate.

This is obvious.

If you get off on this, then go elsewhere to debate obvious questions with others.

Free world.

Sorry GG, I am at a loss as to which simple question you are going to give me an informative answer, as if I am bothered. If the one about service plummetting, show me proof,

And I am HERE to learn things, but very little from you. Most of us do not even know where YOU are.

Of course it is a free world and I can ask or answer whatever acceptable ones I want to.

I think YOU are the one who gets off on such silly, trivial, confusing posts.

It all depends on what you are doing/need it for.

I do not need "high speed"!

It works perfectly well for me and has done so for many years.

Your loss is your loss, and not my gain.

However, I will not be spending much time fretting about it.

Do as you please.

Hey GG, I ALWAYS DO AS I PLEASE, posting questions, answers, and arguments if needed. But not as you do and starting three, four, five or more topics daily, and quite often answering them yourself.

Had 3BB, never a problem, but SWMBO wanted True because of the 'free' security cameras........been a nightmare........they said they would cancel the 3BB contract......someone asked someone else to cancel it but they forgot so we have now paid two lots of 3BB bills and could bought the cameras and saved money.

True is a True nightmare, or was when I used it for about a year.

The customer service is almost nonexistant.

No matter what, I will always stay with 3BB.

I am in a housing developpment and we can all choose. Again all depends.

So, you are re-stating the obvious now?

And, you are re-stating the already-stated-above obvious now?

How does that move the ball forward?

I already stated that AIS has purchased 3BB.

If you have time, then you might check my prior comment.

What is your goal here, anyway?

Just to post 3 or 4-word phrases, which are not even full sentences, that mean almost nothing, or are completely redundant?

What use is doing this?

Why not try to up your game, if you think you have the talent for it.

As a quick, slight, tangent can I ask anyone on this thread if they have personal experience in updating their 3BB router?
I have had mine since 2018 and, yes, it works, and yes, it's extremely reliable.
I'm not worried about the RJ45 connections to the three computers in the house, I'm wondering if there has been any noticeable increase in Wi-Fi speeds, especially that all three of us have phones (and one iPad) that are less than a year old.
Would a replacement router improve their transfer speeds?
Cheers.

I have 3bb at my remote property which required cable to be strung about 500 meters from the hwy to the house. This cable goes through wooded areas which has often resulted in breaks and loss of signal (falling branches, gnawing squirrels, etc), Despite their headquarters being about 150km away they would come within 1 or 2 days, quickly locate where the problem was and fix it. They would be in the house just long enough to assess the router was ok and work out how far from us the break was. In and out in minutes, complete job finished very quickly. The techies were competent and efficient.

Recently (after the AIS merge) it again went down (transpired it was the power company upgrading their lines on the hwy and forgetting to reconnect the fibre). AIS-3BB took a full week to get here! New guys emanating an aura of incompetence! Stated they handle calls in order of receipt; you have to wait your turn. They spent about 1/2 an hour squatting on my floor playing with their various instruments and making long calls to base seemingly to ask how they worked. They then went to lunch. Came back about an hour later having also reconnected the line to the lamp post. No doubt a very simple job!

Then they decided to upgrade my router. This required at least another hour of fiddling with meters and making numerous calls to someone who knew the job. It wasn't hard to ascertain why their visit list was a week behind.

I gauged their service levels to have plummeted massively!

My 5 year old 3BB router seemed to be slowing down, and only WiFi5, so last month I asked , at a 3BB kiosk, if I could get an upgrade. Next day two men came in a 3BB van, new router WiFi6, all sorted out in 1 hour including extending the optic cable, coming to me through the trees, so now my router is in the middle room (lounge) of the house and works perfectly, as I pay for.
