Scientists Discover Life-Changing Side Effect Of Eating Eggs For Alzheimer Treatment

recent study by researchers at Loma Linda University in California has found that including eggs in one’s diet can significantly impact the chances of a person developing Alzheimer’s.

The illness is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that is the 6th leading cause of fatalities in the United States.

Alzheimer’s Association claims that in 2026, at least 1 in 9 Americans (11%) aged 65 and above are clinically diagnosed with the condition, which is also one of the biggest triggers of dementia

Over the past 50 years, I've encountered numerous conflicting claims about eggs, leading me to doubt the reliability of any studies conducted on the topic.

  • Choline: Eggs are one of the best sources of this nutrient. It is a building block for acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter essential for memory and mood. Research suggests nearly 40% of the protective effect in eggs is due to choline.

Animal products are the most concentrated sources of choline.

  • Whole Eggs: The undisputed champion. One large egg contains roughly 147mg of choline, almost all of which is found in the yolk.

  • Beef Liver: By far the highest concentration; a 3-ounce serving provides about 356mg.

  • Beef and Chicken: Grass-fed beef offers about 115mg per 3-ounce serving, while chicken breast provides roughly 72mg.

  • Fish: Salmon and cod are excellent choices, providing between 60mg and 70mg per 3-ounce serving, along with brain-healthy omega-3s.

I like your thinking, as big cannoli fan. So need to eat about 25 of them, to get 100% of my choline.

The brain also needs cholesterol, there’s plenty of sources of healthy cholesterol as long as it’s not over cooked, eggs over easy lightly is the only way for this one. But then again loading up on stuff like sugar and white carbs will negate any benefits of attempting a healthy diet.

As someone pointed out just the other day, the brain makes it own cholesterol. So not as important, directly. Although indirectly, cholesterol will affect other factors that support the brain.

I'm from NJ, an Italian mecca. I sure miss good cannoli. Have you found any her in BK?

Interesting source for this study. Loma Linda University is a Seventh Day Adventist school. Adventists are largely vegetarian and many Loma Linda products are available in US health food stores.

I think hard-boiled are preferable to over-easy or any egg fried. Hm, scrambled with oregano!

These articles are full of plenty of baloney.

Maybe eating baloney will stop dementia in its tracks?

Some say red meat.

Others say fish.

Now, its hen's eggs?

Well if true, then I am in luck.

I eat one 5-egg-omelette per day, and sometimes two.

I like omelettes.

I mean, they are not bad, but not as good as Panang Gai.

Perhaps it is the magnesium contains in hen's eggs?

Who knows.

Still, fortunately, I remain half-sane, and getting saner by the day.

Must be the omeletts.

Nope, sadly. Bought the tubes, but haven't gotten around to making them.

... scrambled with oregano! ...

I do scrambled with tarragon quite often.

Lived in Hightstown (Princeton area) for a while when worked at EWR. Brothers live at Vineland & Mullica Hill.

Grew up Delaware County, PA, was hard not picking up some cannoli at Termini Brothers Bakery at Reading Terminal Market when I popped into Philly.

Taking a peek on Gmap, and a couple places at BKK offering. And I was down on Convent rd the other day ... damn

What a terrible link. Still posting utter crap and trolling. Liver is the most nutrient food there is.

Okay, seriously drooling. I hardly get back to the East. Best pizza, with broccoli rabe, mussels in red sauce, cannoli for dessert!

My son lives in Montgomery County and orders pizza every Friday for the family. I ate leftovers. Better to drive 2 hours to Jersey for real pizza!

BTW, do you every read Weird NJ?

Plenty of good & crappy pizza in PA, and everywhere.

Weird NY ... nah, I don't follow anything in the USA, unless the very few (10) family & friends on FB mention something. Saying that, don't follow much of anything, anywhere, except where we go O&A in TH.

Not if it is the type of liver on that list!

Why is it a terrible link?

BTW how come you are reading posts from someone you claim to be on YOUR IGNORE list?

Yet more lies from you!

Pizzas are overpriced in Thailand. Given up on them anyway. Prefer a good sandwich.

Perhaps in the tourist area you stayed for a week or two holiday. But many good artisanal pizza's are to be found, sometimes in very unlikely places, We are even getting a decent sour dough pizza base. No idea how they keep the starter in a heat wave long like this one.

Seems in Australia a good pizza runs 20-30 dollars minimum. What do you consider high for Thailand?

I seriously doubt from looking around that getting enough cholesterol is an issue.

Disproven decades ago.

Based on your level of intelligence, complete lack of logic and the fact you have given up on pizza, your sandwich of choice is probably toasted cheese and tomato.

Pizza is typically a medium-to-high glycemic index (GI) food, often around 60–80, due to refined white flour crusts, which can cause significant blood sugar spikes. However, the high fat and protein content from cheese and toppings can delay digestion, often leading to a "delayed glucose response" that causes blood sugar to rise 2–4 hours later.

NY Style pizza @ Pizza Co, pepperoni for us, great tasty and great value when 2 for 1, which is all the time with their member card.

SoHo Cantina, soi 11, Krung Thep quite tasty and priced right also. Or used to be, though haven't been for maybe 2 years.

Some 'artisan or Neapolitan' are good also, but not my first choice.

Cheese and toppings aren't inexpensive here, so hard to put out a good, inexpensive pizza. Good sandwiches certainly aren't inexpensive.

On topic (as always) ... I consider pizza & sandwiches, fairly heathy eating, depending on your choice of ingredients. Especially if loaded up with protein.
